Whoops, I didn’t mean to let so many days by! I’ve been buried under the Big Paper (the survey one – it’s coming along) and haven’t really had much progress to show.
A few more woven squares from the other day –
The yellow one is leftover Knitpicks Merino Style for the warp and handspun merino for the weft. And the one on the left/bottom is some handspun. I’m using slightly thicker yarns for the squares now, about sport or DK weight, and I really like the density. As for what to do with them…I’m thinking some kinda crazy quilt at some point. We’ll see.
I also finally re-did the sleeve caps on the Cable/Rib cardi, and I sewed them in – they still could’ve been a bit shorter, but it’ll do. I still have one sleeve seam to do, then the collar and toggles – I’m not really feeling the love at the moment, but I think those finishing touches will really help.
Oh, and while I remember – my custom stamp is from rstamp.net. It was a bit pricey (mainly the shipping…but I know how expensive shipping is in Canada!) but I got exactly what I wanted so I think it was worth it.
And another thing, while I’m remembering random things – the Socks that Rock isn’t in yet; the skein I got was a gift from Tina through Steph, through megan. Hold tight, though – it left a week ago yesterday (Friday) so it should be here soon!
Oh, I really like that sweater – I’m glad you got it straightened out! I might have to cover my eyes until I get past the woven bits… a store near here has the frames and I don’t want to be tempted!
and you weave too-
you amaze me woman.
I am going to look up cabling without a cable needle now tanks for letting me know that it’s possible, cable needles are a hassle.
I’M feeling the love for the Cable/Rib Cardi. Very much love. Very strong and covetous and potentially slightly stalkerish love if you want me to be completely honest. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze tell me you’ll be writing up the pattern and selling it. It’ll make your life so much easier in the long run, really. I have learned from my boy child more ways to whine and be annoying to try to get things I want than you want to know about. Trust me. Heh.
Ooh, I too love the cable/rib cardi.
And those woven squares you keep showing us are lovely, I’m really wanting a mini-loom of my own lately for some reason…
I love your cardi, as usual. ;) The cables are beautiful, I think toggle buttons will look great with it! Good idea.
Hi I saw your March 27, post featuring pictures from MSL on the weaving squares. Thanks for the great links. I am from Australia and MSL isn’t readily available in all newsagencies. I went searching and can only find the April issue. Can you tell me the issue that the weaving was featured in, as I’d love to get a copy and will need to order it from o/s. I have tried the magazine website, but have been unable to find details as to the contents of past issues. I have done quite a bit of this style of weaving, it is fun and your squares look great…I’d just love the added ideas of what you can do with them when they’re made.
Hi! I just found your blog, and I’m just amazed at how productive you are! I especially love all your cardis -they are corgeous!
I, too, am wondering which MSL issue features the weaving? I just returned from Spring Break with my grandmother’s Weave-It looms in hand (a 2X2 and a 4X4, as well as various and sundry knitting needles…), thinking “oh well, what will I ever do with these,” when I discovered your BEAUTIFUL woven squares! They are truly lovely (as are your Trekking socks), and I am inspired. Your Cosmicpluto rubber stamp is great, too!
