parade

Continuing the parade of FO’s, the Must Have cardigan is FINALLY DONE!

Unfortunately, the buttons I bought for it don’t really work. I’ll have to look for some more.

Yay!

Specs:
Pattern: Must Have Cardigan, from Patons “Street Smart” booklet
Yarn: Patons Classic Merino, Chestnut Brown, 7 skeins
Needles: US 6 & 7 Denise needles
Started: October 30, 2004
FInished: January 22, 2005

Verdict: Took awhile (not to knit, but to actually put together and finish) but the knitting was easy and fun!! I cabled without a needle, which made things a lot easier. The armholes are a little tight, but I think that’s mostly due to my too-tight crocheting. They’ll be okay, though. Nice and warm, and not itchy!

Very nice! I love the cables. Good fit too.

Completely gorgeous! Damn, now I’ve got another use for my birthday yarn. At some point I’m really going to have to decide what I’m going to knit out of it!

Wow, that IS a must-have-cardigan. I love the gentle V-neck. The cables are beautiful. It seems to have enough cables and enough seed stitch not to be too overwhelming. I might have to add it to my list.

Nice cardi – I’m tempted to knit one myself now, yours looks so much better than the one in the pattern! I’d prepare for a storm, by the way, the YH has link to you today!

Love the way this turned out, the brown is a beautiful color.

I arrived here from the YH.
I must say your sweater has me really rethinking my avoidance of cables. Its beautiful.
I read about the needleless cable method and see how it looks so fine in your sweater. I am wondering if the body could be done in the round up to the pits.
    Hmmmnnnn
    Namaste,

How can I get a copy of that booklet? Patron’t street smart booklet? I have looked everywhere. Thank you.

Also came here from the Harlot. Your cardi is really special – and the brown shows off the stitches to great effect. I’ve checked out the pattern in the booklet and unhappily it’s for smaller sizes. I’m really bad at up-sizing, so now I’ll just have to look around for an ampler-sized cardi!! 8^( Anyone know of one?

I’ve been working on my Must Have Cardi also, and it’s taking a LOT of patience, but looking at yours, it’s going to be (hopefully) a beauty when it’s done. The color of mine is ‘blue jeans’.

If you don’t have the pattern, your best bet is to go to your LYS and ask the shop owner, or try purchasing it over the internet. If you don’t find that book, then look at the other Patons booklet called ‘Cables’. The sweaters there are just as pretty.

Your sweater turned out so well that it has inspired me to try another sweater…but have looked everywhere and can’t find the Paton’s pattern. any suggestions?

  14. […] Filled with “Must Have Cardigan” fever, Jeanne and I each ordered a copy of Street Smart to get the pattern. (I was extremely impressed with the service we got – Jessica of Weaving Rainbow even checked to make sure I’d meant to order two copies; she’ll have more copies of Street Smart soon). […]

    Just Gorgeous.

I started one the day before yesterday… My goal was to finish it before the end of the March break…. I think I can, I think I can.

    Thanks for the inspiration.
