Friday Snapshot

basil

Wrapped a little extra batting around my basil plant since it’s so cold by the window.

needle books

Needle books – the top one was given to me by my friend Denny, the bottom one I cobbled together back in high school. (The pages are made from this horrible poly fleece that I made a pair of wide-legged pants out of. Yikes, the static!)

new sweater

Started a new cardigan yesterday, in Zen Yarn Garden superwash merino – colour is Romi’s Garden.

squish

Thinking of resurrecting this long-term handspun log cabin blanket. I have a few skeins of black that I think I might just knit on there as a border and call it done.

Happy Friday!

I’m working on a handspun log cabin blanket TOO. Total potato-chip knitting. Yours is a lot more colorful than mine though — I’m doing mine to use up all the odds and ends of purple, red, blue, and grey handspun I’ve had lingering.

I used that same colorway in a different base yarn (MCN fingering), and I can’t say enough about how gorgeous it is. Looking forward to seeing your design develop.

Hi Laura, i’m a big fan of your knitting, and also i love your plants – you are a great gardener! If you don’t mind my asking, how do you grow basil? Do you plant seeds or buy plants that have already been grown to some point? I tried growing dill, parsley and lettuce by planting seeds in pots on my window – nothing, i just get tiny sprouts, they hold on for a while, and then just die… Your basil looks like it is really happy in its pot, how do you do that?

Totally off topic, but some of your previous posts have inspired me quilt by hand. Wish me luck
