My pace is slowing down a bit after my initial excitement, mostly because I remembered that crochet is harder on my hands and wrists than knitting is! I’ll have to take it easy.

I’m using a lot of scrappy bits of yarn for my blocks, mostly Koigu KPPPM with some Socks that Rock and random one-off leftover balls in my stash. I did discover that I have enough Koigu semi-solids to knit a striped sweater, so I’m considering not using those in the blanket! Currently my plan is to crochet around each block with cream before joining them together – although I only have 10 blocks so far, so we’ll see what happens.

My most favourite square, so far:

goodness, I'm obsessed.

Oooh. So pretty! I love the middle one that goes from blue to purple to pink. These would make a gorgeous blanket. Though they look pretty awesome on their own too!

So fun and pretty! Lots of uses for these – blanket, bag, pillow. Thanks for the inspiration!

I do hope you release a pattern for these. Btw I absolutely loved the Bender that you made a few months ago.

Great idea Laura! I have so much sock yarn that I could use up on something like this. I have to admit though, I am pretty rusty on crochet. Haven’t touched it since I learned how to knit!

Will you crochet the squares together or do you plan to sew them? I think they will be beautiful and I’m really looking forward to seeing a photo.

Gorgeous squares. I’ve been working on a granny square blanket in lots of different colours, but all crocheted together with pale lemon. Looks great. Love the look of your squares. Very unusual.
