I finally finished up a skein (note: not the entire amount of roving, maybe half) of the colonial wool – the yarn of Insane Craziness.

It’s a big skein, but I have no idea what the yardage is. How do people figure that out? Wind their skeins on a niddy-noddy and count?

Anyway, there’s not much knitting progress going on – still working on the tanks. I should really do some finishing, too – the licorice cardi and phildar jacket have just been sitting around. Hopefully there will be some more progress to report after tonight’s SnB!

So how’s everyone’s week going? Good? Mine’s good, busy and nice. Of course, a byproduct of busyness is a shortage of knitting, which is of course unacceptable. I’ve been working on the tank in all season’s cotton – I’m almost up to the armholes and will need to decide what to do about the neck (I’m thinking v-neck). Still working on Soleil – working on the increases. Everything else, well, it’s kind of languished. I don’t want to start a new project until I finish something else, so I’m hoping to get some knitting done today. If not, there’s always SnB tomorrow. Oh, and I filled another bobbin (finally!) so I’ll be plying my yarn of Insane Craziness today.

For a bit of a change (and distraction from lack of knitting content): as I was going through my knits a little while ago (taking things out for Dulaan and ripping) I found my Cleo, knit from two strands of Lewiscraft-brand mercerized cotton (which is actually quite nice). I think it might actually, possibly, be wearable.

If not, I can always rip it.

  • rippin’

Last night at SnB I ripped out two tank tops from last summer – the “Goddess”tank (ie. the criss-cross tank) from Vogue, and the “Jenna” tank from Berroco (too lazy to find the link).

The yarn doesn’t look to be too kinked up, probably because they’re both slippy mercerized cotton. So the question now is, of course, what to do with this yarn? I didn’t get around to ripping out syncopated ribs, because I actually wanted to knit…but since I’m just working away on Cozy and Soleil, there isn’t much of that to show.

Instead: the yarn of Insane Craziness.

This stuff is BRIGHT and I love it! I’m working on filling another “bobbin” (er…TP roll) and then I’ll ply ’em together. This wool (“colonial wool”) is super soft and really easy to spin – just a little bit o’ predrafting and I’m good to go. It’s been spinning up really fast, too, but maybe that’s just because I’m crazy for the colours.

Oh, and I got the first package from the Cotton-Ease Binge.

Unfortunately the colour’s all washed out in this pic (sunlight’s a double-edged sword) – it’s a very nice buttercup yellow. I shall be making a tiny-fitting cardi with buttons, sized according to a cardi from *ahem* Old Navy.

I think I need some chocolate. I’ll be sure to pick some up on the way home from my FINAL EXAM OF SECOND YEAR tonight! And then there shall be much crafting to celebrate!
