  • oh no, flickr!

Well. I’ve got stuff to post, but now Flickr’s being all uptight with my photos! I upload using Flickr Uploadr, and have never had a problem till now. I’m hoping this is just a temporary thing – the photos show up in my Photostream (twice, actually, since I thought I’d try uploading them again), but when I click to go to the photo’s page, it’s a broken link. I can’t delete the photos from my photostream, either.

If you can see the photos by going to my Flickr page, I guess you’ll get a preview! I guess a proper post will have to wait until later, when I have time to figure this out. Any advice would be most appreciated!

  • February

So. It’s February, arguably the most dreary month of the year, at least around these slush-covered parts. Lots of people are looking forward to the end of winter and coats, and to the prospect of a green world again.

Now, I love spring as much as the next person (gardening!), but I’m just not quite done with winter yet! I still have sweaters to knit!

Newly cast on – Lush and Lacy from SweaterBabe.

    Lush and Lacy

Mmmm. I’m using the called-for Classic Elite Lush, funny enough – I had a bag in the stash. My gauge is a little smaller than the pattern calls for, but I can see this yarn stretching out quite a bit once it hits water or gets worn. So I’m pushing ahead. It’s going quickly, although I do wish the lace panel was charted (yeah, yeah, I’ll just do it myself). I’m almost to the armholes of the back now, but I’m putting it on hold for a bit (just two days after starting it!). With its lace and shorter sleeves, it can be a spring sweater.

I still have Silver Belle (Choco-belle!) left to knit, and this is a seriously winter sweater. So it’s back to cables city! I just did a major decrease row on the peplum, and have just a couple inches left to do on it. Then it’s onto the sleeves/fronts, which should go relatively faster.

Of course, I also have a lot of rather important deadline knitting to do. Can I finish this sweater before winter’s end? Well, it can always be a spring jacket…

  • try, try again

Thanks for all the comments on the Tree Jacket! I really do love the way it turned out – and I think the contrasting yarn really ended up a good thing.

Meanwhile, I’ve got very little knitting to show at the moment, for some reason. I’m always knitting, but right now it just feels like nothing’s really working, you know? Not really in the groove.

Case in point, Imogen [Rav link].

    Imogen, again

Yarn is Dream in Color Classy, in Black Parade – much more blue in real life, not so brown. It’s working up really, really nicely. However…I knit up a whole ball (250 yards) before snapping out of the delusion that the sizing would work out at my gauge (which is quite different from the pattern). So I ripped the whole thing out and started again.

I probably should’ve done a provisional cast on this time, but I just don’t learn. So I’ll have to pick out my cast on edge later – oh well. The good thing is, I knit up that whole ball in just about one day…so I think I’ll be able to get back on track right quick!

Non-knitting, but cool, last night I went to Nathan Phillips Square (where City Hall is located here in Toronto, for those who don’t know) for “Wintercity”, which is a new winter festival. Saw some very cool trampoline stuff!

    Two Olympic trampolinists:

    the flying canucks

One snowboarder, and one skier (Jeff Bean – some might remember him as the dude that lost both of his skis midair during the Torino Olympics):

And when it got dark, there was a huge “nights of fire” sculptural exhibit featuring, you guessed it, a whole lot of fire.
