  • stick a fork in me

I’M DONE!!! HOORAY!! (I may not have passed, but let’s just not think about that till January.)

    Mini-charlotte is done, too!

Colours are wayy off today, but I’m being lazy and just taking quick shots on my desk (which no long has school work on it!) Here’s a closeup of the beads I used on the edge:

I ended up only using 2 packs (60 beads) – I had bought four. I’ll probably just hang onto them rather than returning them, though; they’re pretty. I wanted to do a Eucalan soak, but I don’t think I have time – I’m going to have to just pin it out and spray it, later tonight when I get home. Would spraying it with a Eucalan solution help at all, do you think?

    The Koigu glove continues…

And now I’ve got to run, because I need to get dressed and all for work and for going OUT tonight! Wow, out. Haven’t been there in awhile.

  • glove love ‘n hate

Gahhhhh. First off, gloves are AWESOME. As are 2.75 mm dpns. What is NOT AWESOME is realizing more than halfway through the glove that said gloves are too big for one’s tiny hands. When I used Koigu to make fingerless mittens before, I used 3mm needles and the 7 sts/in numbers. They fit perfectly (48 sts). This time I’m using 2.75 mm and the 8 sts/in numbers (56 sts).

Alas, I just measured the gauge on both, and they’re both 8 sts/in (even though current glove’s stitches look smaller). So. The question is, should I use the 7 sts/in numbers (48 sts), or the 8 sts/in numbers for a smaller size (child’s 6-8, 52 sts). Someone, give me some advice!

I’ll be over in the corner with my linguistics notes, trying to read them while frogging this beautiful glove.

  • how to waste precious time

Yes, I have done some work today. Yes, I will study many hours after I write this.

It’s amazing how I can just throw away time. Last night, I worked for over an hour on a new layout for here (which isn’t working very well…it’ll have to wait until later in the week). Today I stared out the window for a full five minutes (maybe more) watching the snow fall, before it got a gloomy snowy. I also played with this icon maker and came up with this:

What do you think? It’s so difficult to make it look like me.

I do have a little knitting progress to report; mini-charlotte is getting some attention. I’m going to finish up this repeat (4 rows) then do one more repeat (16 rows) and that’ll be it. I also need to get to a bead store or Lewiscraft to get some proper sized beads for the castoff edge. Yum, Koigu is so squishy and nice to work with.

    Presents still left to do:
Pasha #2, for sister #2 (I’ll have to make this one a hat or something…)
    Finish scarf for dad
    Finish capelet for mom
something for grandmother. possibly an eyeglasses case…or maybe just some pretty dishcloths.
