I’ve got to go to chinese new year’s dinner in a few minutes (which I really don’t want to go to) but here’s a quick update:

I worked on the tall socks a touch today, but there’s still so much to go…ah well, mindless tv knitting for when I have time to watch tv. Oh, the sleeves of the top down cardi are turning out okay – they’re going to be three-quarter length after blocking (I hope). So those are almost done, then there’s just the body to finish up. I really want to get that down soon.

Urban Aran sort of stopped after that first sleeve, but I do want to get back to it – it’s so nice and fast, and has fun cables. Maybe I’ll start the back so I can just go forward on it without having to worry about increases or shaping for a good long while.

Feeling rather overwhelmed with school at the moment – so I gotta get back to the books. Cheers.

EDIT: GAHHHH!!! Elann’s got the return of solid colour Esprit (their fixation ripoff) DIRECTLY AFTER I ORDERED IT FROM THE STATES for almost $2 US more per ball plus shipping! Grrrrrrr. At least now I can order some for other purposes from Elann…

I bought two more balls of Esprit just in case, and I can always return the extra as long as I hustle to get things knit. I also bought four balls of Cascade Fixation from Hello Knitty, for Mon Petit Chou.

I had quite a few errands to run today, and I went by Fabricland to pick up a bunch of notions for my garter belt experiment as well as for petit chou. All the better that they were 25% off!

I made a special trip downtown as well, to go to Lush. I looooove Lush, but it’s so dang expensive. Oh well, I think it’s worth it to feel soft and smooth and smell nice!

My old standby, Sympathy for the Skin, as well as a Buffy the Backside Slayer and King of Skin body butter. The Party On temple balm is supposed to keep you alert – we’ll see. I can definitely use all the help I can get for this studying craziness.

    What’s that? Knitting?

I knit the first sleeve until there was a little more than half the ball left (according to my not-so-accurate kitchen scale), then started on the second sleeve. I’ll have to see where the yarn takes me – I don’t want to end up with a too-short, weird sleeve length cardi, but I don’t really want to use yet another colour to finish it up, and it’s probably going to be impossible to find the same dyelot (Patons Classic Wool, burgundy, 115328).

  • a different kind of productive

Last night I spent some time balling and organizing some of my yarn (note: only some, not the stuff seen in earlier pictures of my yarn shelf that was actually on the shelves). I put all the needles and acrylics I’m not really going to use ever in an opaque tub, and the good stuff in clear bins – I need to be reminded visually that I have the stuff!

In the bin on the left is all blue and white cottons and cotton blends. I see a scrapy wrap sometime soon, but probably not until the actual spring or summer. In the right bin is other stuff – reds, wools, other yarns, and the really little scrap balls in a plastic bag.

I’ve finished the first tall sock!

It’s not quite a long as I wanted, but I’m just sick of knitting it, I think. Now to finish the other one…

Oh, and here’s a nice sunny shot of the secret project (several of you will know what this is):

It’s so nice out today! I’m going to open up my blinds and my window, to let in some nice fresh air…while I study.
