  • Victory is mine!

AH-HA! I finally found the USB memory card reader for the digital camera we have, AND found the driver I needed to download for it to work with my iPhoto. So now there shall be photos – tomorrow, when I have time to resize the pictures and figure out how to make pop-ups. Now I don’t have to spend money on that camera (although maybe I will for, say, Christmas).

In knitting, nothing special is going on. I’m almost done one sleeve of the ribby, and it feels so nice. Yay! Not a stitch of anything else.

Joyce – my Cotton-Ease came courtesy of my family when they were in the States in July. They went to Michael’s after not being able to find it at Wal-Mart, and it was on clearance for $2 per skein!! They got me 6 skeins of black and 5 of blueberry – it’s too bad they didn’t think to get extra since it was on sale. There is this one website, discountyarnsale.com, which sells Cotton-Ease for pretty cheap. I was thinking of ordering some from them, except for that little fact that I don’t have a credit card. If you ever want to combine shipments from them, let me know!

  • Birthday

Well, as the title implies, it was my 20th birthday yesterday (the first). It wasn’t anything really special – I mostly hung around the house, there was cake, and then I had dinner at a friend’s house, which was actually very nice. I can’t seem to come up with much else enlightening to say (not that the preceeding paragraph was enlightening in any way), but I do have some knitting content:

Charlotte’s done, and I wore her out last night to a movie (Spiderman 2 for the second time). LOVE her. Today I’ve been working on my Ribby cardie, which I’m knitting out of Lion Brand Cotton-Ease, in “licorice” (black). I love how fast it’s working up, and the yarn feels really nice – just like my favourite sweater from the Gap (which incidentally is also 50% cotton, 50% acrylic). Since Lion Brand stuff isn’t too easy to come by here, even this cheapie yarn has its novelty. This is going to be a super comfy, wear-everywhere sweater! I can’t wait!

I may just be engrossed in this cardie for the next week or so, even though the weather isn’t exactly sweater friendly. I’ve also casted on for my Chickami. Soon on the horizon will also be the “stripes go round” tee from the Summer Interweave and the Bella cardigan.

My posts are awfully boring. I feel so inferior to such witty bloggers as the Yarn Harlot and the likes…ah well. What would certainly liven things up around here: the camera I want. It’s on sale at Future Shop for $379 CDN, but I’d also have to get more memory and rechargeable batteries…it certainly adds up. I may have to settle for the Olympus 4 MP camera that’s on sale for $299, but doesn’t have the cool manual features.

  • Sorry..

..but no pics today. My friend didn’t bring her digital camera to the party, and since I don’t have bluetooth it would be difficult to get pictures off her phone. But, I’m getting closer to my goal of a new digital camera for myself. I received $140 CDN today for my birthday (which is tomorrow, and I’ll be 20) from my grandma :) My scholarship for the coming school year was also renewed, so between that and the education savings plan that my parents set up for me which is finally paying off, I should actually make some money this year! Future Shop’s also having a sale, so I may pop by on Monday (if they’re open) or Wednesday to look at cameras. At any rate, there shall be a windfall of photos soon, I promise!

Right now I’m working on the crochet edging for my Charlotte. It’s too bad my crochet skills aren’t that great – it should look alright, though. I took my Chickami to the party in the hopes of starting it, but I was distracted (*coughsmirnoffcough*).

Yesterday at work I traded in 9 skeins of Koigu Kersti (soooo beautiful) for 13 skeins of Mission Falls wool in “Denim” and one enormous 8 oz (1050 yd) skein of laceweight mercerized cotton from Blue Heron Yarns. The wool is destined for a simple top-down sweater with a big-ass cable in the front, and I think I’m going to try and use the cotton, doubled, to make the “Stripes Go Round” top (minus stripes) from the Summer issue of Interweave.

Speaking of Interweave, I finally purchased the fall issue yesterday. Love, love, love the tartan jacket. I may just have to make it.

I did receive my box from Elann yesterday, containing a cone of Naturelle 8/8 in Oxford Gray and four balls of the Fixation knockoff yarn. I also got my Denise needle replacement. I love getting mail :)

And one last thing, Carrie linked to little ole me! Awesome!
