  • this ‘n that

I just finished the second handwarmer for my mom, so now I just need to weave in the ends – I’ll probably leave that for awhile, though. Right now it’s just about getting all the major knitting done.

I am SO making this hat: Phoebe. I’ll use Manos – I can get gauge on 5mm dpns. It’s got great colour like the Noro and I can actually wear it on my skin. Therefore, I might do the hat first from that second skein, and then use what is left over to finish up the scarf. Ta-da, no leftovers!

Elann’s Highland Wool is even CHEAPER now because of the strong dollar! When I bought mine on tuesday it was $2.75, now it’s $2.70! It’s damn tempting – I need some yarn for a scarf for my dad…and maybe a hat/scarf/mitten set for me. I’ll wait, though (and this time I’ll actually do it). At least until next payday or so.

I’m being terribly unproductive today. I’ve been sitting at my computer for hours at a time, but I’m not actually doing anything. And now I want to go watch Good Will Hunting, really just for the shots of UofT!

On tap for dinner – roasted tomato baked pasta and possibly scalloped potatoes, from one of the milk calendars. I can hardly wait.

a little later: Project Pictures from SnB Nation! oh, and a random thought, so I can get it down – I think I’d like to make some stockings out of the black JaggerSpun Zephyr I’ve got. Anyone seen any patterns?

  • stay-in sunday

I think I’m going to stay home today. Which I haven’t done in at least a month or more. I do kind of want to go to Stephanie’s afghan-along-sew-up-party, but I should really hit the books. A least a little.

    A beautiful Manos scarf!

I’m now done the first ball, and since I do have that second one wound up I think I’ll make it a little longer (although it’s already fairly long, at least 4 and a half feet. It’s purdy. Here’s a blurry closeup:

And here’s the beginning of the cabled scarf, which I’ve decided is going to be for my grandfather. It’s nice and soft.

I’ve also gotten one kersti handwarmer completely finished (except for the ends) and for the other one I just need to do the thumb. So those will be done today. Motoring along the Christmas gift list, I believe that I’ll whip up some wristwarmers for my teenage male cousin next. I’m going to use black and red cotton-ease, and maybe do one with a star and one with vertical stripes. I’m also still flip-flopping on what I should make another female cousin, a year older than me – I can’t decide between a feather and fan scarf (out of burgandy TLC Cotton Plus), hand/wrist warmers, or a yarn gift since she knits a bit.

I’ve come up with a project to use up the random leftovers and stash yarn that I have – a knit-lengthwise skinny scarf or shawl. But that won’t be for a while.

  • photos…finally

Arghh. My computer/internet/router reallllly weren’t cooperating last night. Anyway, here’s a bit of an update.

A shot of my Jo Sharp Silkroad from Elann (it’s dark blue):

    Must Have sleeve progress:

    I bought yarn. And needles.

Two skeins of Rowan Kidsilk Haze, in burgandy and steel grey (my names), and a set of Brittany double points. The needles are for my Koigu gloves, and I’m planning to do legwarmers with one strand of black Classic Wool and one strand of one of the KSH. I haven’t decided which yet – I keep flip-flopping. Any suggestions?

I took more pictures, but I’m going to save some for next time. Meanwhile, this is what I’m working on for school…
