two skeins? yes!

I finished the first thuja sock on Friday, and one skein did one sock. Actually I should’ve done a half inch more of cuff to use up all the yarn – so yes, two skeins is enough for a pair of women’s socks. I used 3.25 mm needles (I knit loosely) with a gauge of about 23 stitches/10 cm. 5.5″ cuff and I wear a US 8 shoe.

Today I bound off the feather and fan shawl, and I just barely had enough of the last colourway to bind off with! Good thing I remembered that I’d wound off a few yards for the intarsia panel on one of them Christmas present robots.

I still have quite a bit of the yarns I used left over – there’s just something about that last colourway though, the one in the tiny amounts, that I just love. I didn’t dye it myself, so I can’t take credit for that, but I just loooove the way the wool spun up.

The shawl is blocking now, and I tell ya – it’s HUGE. It’s really the maximum size I’d make for a shawl for myself. I like smaller ones that I can scrunch up and use as scarves. Speaking of which, I’ve been wearing my simple yet effective all week, and I just adore it! I’m starting to get into wearing it just normally (as a shawl across my shoulders), too.

Nice looking shawl – I love the colors. I also like scrunching up my shawls and wearing them as scarves with just that extra surprise when I unwrap it. I might be the only one who notices, but still . . .

wow. I was able to knit a baby Bolero, beanie, and booties with less than 2 skeins of artyarn supermerino, size 6 US needles in the same color way.

Crazy how that works. Anywho, beautiful shawl and thanks for the idea for my remainding 2 skeins of art yarn.
