resolution

Thanks for all your comments. Sometimes the power and speed of the internet work for the greater good! I found the photo last night, and it was taken down by lunchtime today. I was contacted by the author of the site, who apologized and said she will review her testimonial policies – the photos (before/after, of different people) were submitted by someone to her as a testimonial which she took at face value. Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous people out there who can and will use other people’s work for their own (twisted) pleasure.

So, I’m happy with this resolution. But that was a very weird situation. I’m not sure what I can do to protect my photos and likeness in the future – perhaps add a watermark to my photos? Not really interested in that sort of thing right now, but it might become necessary. At any rate, I’m glad this was all so quickly solved! I’m going to close the comments on the last post.

Next time, fun around town with Ysolda, and maybe even some knitting!

[delurking to post because this is disturbing!] OMG that is crazy! I’m glad you got it resolved. I don’t know what the solution is, it’s a balance between your very positive, open public face (which I appreciate, I love your blog with all its lovely pix and patterns), and all the creepy people out there who have no respect for boundaries.

In other news I also follow ysolda’s blog, and had a smile when I saw that you two got together.

Good that you resolve that problem, hope that the person will be punished in a way or another.
Well after reading Ysolda point of view i’m impatient to read yours!

Wow – that’s so crazy! Glad you got the situation resolved so quickly. I can’t believe people think it’s okay to do things like that!

Wow! I am so glad you were able to get them to take down the photo so quickly.

That’s great that you were able to get things resolved so soon. It’s still awful that they stole the photo. How did you find out about it? I’m totally lost when it comes to preventing people from stealing content from my blog…

BTW, you look nothing like a “before” picture

That is just crazy! I’m glad you were able to get that taken care of so quickly.

Laura, in your Flickr account disable the feature that allows different sizes
and downloads. People can see one size but cannot download, save or otherwise manipulate your photos.
Although there may be ways around this it should stop alot of poaching !

Delurking to say that I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I can’t imagine what thought process makes that kind of thing seem like a good idea. It doesn’t make sense in any way, shape or form.

I’ve been wary of posting things online publicly since I had someone copy & paste my entire blog to his, but I’m at a loss for ideas on keeping thieves and the unscrupulous at bay while still sharing with a community. In any case, I’m glad you got it sorted out without much fuss.

    delurking….

i work in social media and blogging for business, and we run into this issue with our clients if they don’t properly protect their content. you can disable all photo sharing and downloading, saving abilities, and that leaves them with a screenshot as their only option.

i’m not aware as of yet of any code or widget that prevents screenshots, but disabling everything else definitely helps!

gorgeous work, btw. i’m a big fan ^_^
