WYCHWOOD SHAWL

Sometimes a bit of simple knitting is all you need. This top-down triangular shawl is perfectly light and warm, and works up quickly with little fuss. Great for adding a pop of colour all year round. Use any yarn you like, simply adjust the needle size – one or two sizes larger than the ball band recommendation will help you achieve a supple, not too dense fabric.

Size
One; 60” wingspan x 24” depth at center / 153 x 60cm

Yarn
Laceweight yarn, held double throughout, 1300 yds / 1190m Shown in:
» Jojoland Cashmere Laceweight (100% cashmere; 440 yds /
400m per 1.75 oz / 50g skein), 3 skeins in Black
» sweetgeorgia yarns Merino Silk Lace (50% merino wool, 50% silk; 765 yds / 700m per 3.5 oz / 100g skein), 1 skein each in Riptide and Nightshade

Needles and Notions
» US 7 / 4.5mm circular needles, 32” / 80cm or longer
» 2 stitch markers
» tapestry needle

Gauge
18 sts and 26 rows = 4” / 10cm square in Stockinette Stitch with two strands of yarn held together.
Gauge is not critical for this project, through a different gauge will result in a different finished size.

I love it, especially the blue version! I made a shawl similar to this last year and it gets tons of wear and lots of compliments. It’s a great idea to use the laceweight held double.

What a nice, minimal wrap. That would get alot of use for sure!

This is more of a question than a comment….am I knitting the border after the body of the shawl is completed or as I’m knitting the body?
