Well, I finished up the February Baby Sweater – my mom thought it looked too small, but the baby’s pretty darn small (she’s up to 7 pounds at one month old, she was a few weeks premature). I think it’ll fit just fine!

FBS

I gave it to the newest baby in the family last night at a family bbq, and the parents seemed to quite like it – I don’t have many babies to give stuff to, so it was nice! I didn’t get to finish up a hat that I was making to go with, but oh well.

FBS - closer

Unfortunately just when I was heading into the backyard at my aunt’s to hang up my bathing suit (the pool was great!) I tripped and totally fell down.

4.365 - fall down, go boom.

And twisted my ankle. D’oh.

I took this photo after about fifteen minutes lying in the grass with a bag of frozen peas on my ankle (my left – it’s hidden by the towel and peas) and it’s not great, but whatever. I was in pain, man. I can hobble around okay, I don’t think it’s broken – but I’m off to the doctor’s to probably get some xrays and stuff. Last night I just kept it up, wrapped, and with ice on it, so I don’t think it’s too horribly swollen.

But judging by the ache this morning when I got up to go to the bathroom, I think I’m outta commission for a few days. Sigh. Usually I’m so careful with the walking to avoid just this!

I think the sweater is adorable, and it will fit for awhile! It’s hard to know what size you’ll get with the pattern. I want to make it, as well, but EZ terrifies me! I’m sorry about your ankle. I’ve done that to myself, and it hurts forever. Take care.

The sweater looks great! Such a bummer about your ankle, I hope your x-rays are ok. At least it means time for knitting!

I hope you get better (I’m a queen when it comes to sprains!) – keep it bound and don’t walk around so much.

And yes, I agree with Niki, at least you can knit! I sprained my pinkie a few weekends ago and was out of action for weeks. :(

You poor thing! I hope your ankle is feeling great very soon.

How nice that sweater came out! I just love the black yarn you chose. It really has a nice sheen to it. Great job!

A post or two ago you asked about shoes to wear with orthotics. I wish I had good advice for you, since I have them, too. I’ve got a pair of chunky oxford-type Dansko lace-ups that do well for me. Other than that, I second the vote of the person who suggested Keen shoes. I’ve got a pair of sporty sneakers by Keen. They’re not really dressy, but they’re cuter than my running shoes. I can get away with wearing them with a skirt with the right attitude.

The FBS is really cute, by the way. I really like the buttons you chose to go with the black yarn.

So sorry to hear about your ankle. Hope you’ll get better soon. The sweater is very lovely. How much yarn did you use? 50g to 100g?

Ouch! Sorry about the fall. I had one myself a few weeks ago that I stupidly ignored in favor of fun when it happened and was purple and swollen like a baseball by the end of the day. Sounds like you are smarter than I, so your recovery should be much faster!

I hope your ankle will heal quickly, and in the meantime take good care of the rest of you. A little rest on the couch will be good for you. Love, Rita

The sweater is gorgeous! I love seeing babyknits done up in more “adult” colours.

ps: “Usually I’m so careful with the walking to avoid just this!” is hilarious…

The baby sweater is gorgeous. I especially like your use of the dark color. I’m a fan of babies in bold colors. I hope we get to see pictures of the baby wearing this gorgeous creation.

Sorry to hear about your ankle. Take it easy!
