  • the blahs

Yep, another case of the February blahs in March. I’m feeling rather uninspired by my knitting projects at the moment, and a large part of that is wanting it to be spring so I can knit (and then wear) spring things. Ah well, I suppose I should take this time to work on schoolwork and wait for the knitting muse to come on back with a vengance, mm?

    I’m working on the not-cashmere pullover…

I’m going up the front yoke, then soon shall come the collar, back yoke/sleeves, and connecting the back side-to-side piece. And then picking up and knitting down from the center pieces for length, although I think I might make it shorter than the pattern calls for. Although the yarn is bulky, it still feels like I’m not moving much because the rows are so long.

I do have one spring/summer project firmly lodged in the queue – the Gibson Girl pullover from last summer’s Interweave.

The blurriness wasn’t just me; the picture’s blurry in the magazine too. Anyway, I need to decide on a yarn – I think I will do a sport or DK-weight mercerized cotton, but what colour should I do? I don’t want to do it too dark, but I want it in a colour that I’ll actually wear…suggestions?

  • sticktoitiveness

You know, I was dreaming of spring, of fast, light, cotton knits. Thinking about what I can do with the lovely cottons I’ve got. Wondering how to construct a top out of the Aurora like the one that I’ve got in my mind…along with a skirt to match.

Then old man winter rears his head again and dumps another 10 cm of snow.

Oh well, gotta knit the woolies while you can, right? I’m actually rather impressed that I’ve resisted the urge to cast on for some sort of new project, and I’m sort of past the craving now. I’m just about up to the toe decreases on the Lorna’s sock, and am making good headway on the yoke of the Retro-Prep. So there will be some FO’s in the near future – about time!

I did some blog housekeeping – updated my FO gallery (I’ll hopefully be working on that soon, make it a little more user-friendly) and put up a link to the top-down pattern. I’ve been getting hits from the Knitter’s Review Forums, where someone nice posted a link to my pattern!

Check out the pictures on Dani’s blog! It came out super great and I think she was really surprised.

Anyway, this is a rather short and boring post, but I turned the heel on the second Lorna’s laces sock and am in the home stretch! For some crazy reason I thought I’d be able to finish it tonight, but that’s just because I’m nuts. Oh, and I worked on the body of Retro-Prep today as well, and am about two inches away from the underarm. Soon to be stuck on sleeve island – I’ve decided to go with the sleeves as written, which is kind of different for me. I will be changing the neckline though, because I want a wider, more boatneck line.

Once these two wool sweaters are done (retro-prep and knitty project) I’m movin’ on to spring stuff! I mean, of course I won’t abandon wool. But I’m going to pick up the Lo Tech sweat and work on that. Cotton-ease is just so cozy and comfy, works up fast, and will be perfect to throw on when it gets a little warmer (please, let this winter end…).

Pictures to come soon! Maybe even tonight!

P.S. Oh, Elann, why must you torment me so…I want some Baby Silk. I even have a credit now (uh…that could be a bad thing, since it means I’ve spent over, what, $660 CDN there?). Okay. I must exercise some restraint.
