  • go wtf

Over a month later (I think it’s longer…somehow I don’t trust that date in the sidebar), here they are!

    Go With the Flow socks
    Pattern: Interweave Knits, Summer 2005
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock, “Watercolor”, 1.5 skeins
    Needles: 2.5 mm bamboo circ
    Finished: September 16, 2005

No problems here, the pattern is super easy to memorize and rather fun, too. I used a slightly larger needle than suggested because 60 stitches seemed really small to me. Pretty!

I managed to get the v-neck on Cloud right the first time…ok, actually now that I think about it, I did have to rip a few rows while decreasing for the neck. But, at least I got the edging right! It looks a little wonky, but looks fine on.

Onto the sleeves! I think I’ll have enough for full length ones, too.

A bit of progress on the Koigu skirt – I’m done 3 and 1/6 hexagons. The ends aren’t as horrendous anymore, because I can knit in about half of them. I contemplated short-row hexagons instead, but I just didn’t like the look enough.

    Fun!

  • so cozy

Cozy I will be…if it ever cools off!

    Cozy
    Pattern: Cozy from knitty
Yarn: Jaggerspun Wool/Silk 4/8 on a cone from redbirdknits, “Steel”, with lots of leftovers
    Needles: Denise US8
    Started: March 6, 2005
    Finished: September 6, 2005

Since I put this away in the summer for a few months, I was pretty into getting it done when I got back around to it. The yarn is super soft and silky, and blocked beautifully – and I love the colour. Not sure what to do with the extra yarn – now would be a great time for a yarn meter! I didn’t make the shawl as long as stated in the pattern, but it’s plenty long enough for me. Perfect for the fall!

    A couple glamour shots:

I also finished up one zinnia sock on the subway today – amazing what you can knit on the subway if you actually, you know, knit (as opposed to sleep) on that train ride.

Now, the garment formerly known as the wrappy sweater. As you can see, there’s no wrapping here. So, I’m renaming it the “Cavern” sweater. Hrm…maybe I ought to try coming up with names that aren’t the yarn colour or name. It is dark dark brown, not blue like the photo would have you believe.

Weaving in the ends and some buttons, and it’ll be all done!

  • found!

The cormo made it home safe and sound, after a slight detour to lettuce knit.

I ran out of yarn while working on my wrappy sweater today at the store (although it can’t really be called a wrappy sweater anymore, because I changed my mind), so I started something new, with the Koigu that I bought yesterday…this skirt from the fall issue of Vogue Knitting!

Of course, I’m toning it down a bit – I’m only doing three tiers of hexagons; all my hexagons shall be the same colourway, although I’m sure they’ll pattern differently; my in-between-tier colour will be dark brown Louet merino, to match the brown in the koigu. That hasn’t been ordered or anything yet, but it will be…sometime.

But the ends, dear god the ENDS!

Every hexagon has about 15 ends! I’m going to try something with knitting them in, but it’s difficult because they’re all pick up tails/cast off tails. There are 27 hexgons total, with the second and third tier ones being progressively bigger. The hexagon is pretty quick to knit, so this might actually be a fairly fast project.

I also put in some time on Cloud, and I’m into the body increases:

You know, on my way home I was thinking about how I should do my modelled shots of Cozy, but then…I just didn’t do them. I think I need some during-the-day time when I’m at home to do it, and I’m not sure when that’ll be. This week though, I promise!
