  • not much knittin’

Yep, it’s true. I hardly have any time to knit because I desperately need to study :( We’ll see how long it is before I go completely batty. I’ve decided that I’m going to the Knitter’s Frolic on Saturday though, so between that and the book launch I should have enough knitting around me – plus I’m not NOT knitting completely, just severely reduced.

Here’s a shot of the Phildar jacket sleeves. One down, one to go. It’s really fast when I can work on it. Suppose I should get moving on this so I can actually wear it – I’m actually re-thinking the fronts though. With such a lightweight yarn is double-breasted really a good idea? Hm. I might just make it into a normal front jacket. Hm.

Meanwhile, I’ve got this (yep, I made it):

to help me deal with this:

See you at the launch tomorrow!

  • it’s all in the finishing

    Lots to blog about today!

The silk garden cardi is done! It’s soft and beautiful, and I think it’ll be great to wear over t-shirts or tanks when it gets a little warmer.

It’s a little big though – just when it’s open. So I figure I’ll add buttons. I didn’t knit in buttonholes, but the stitches are loose enough that I think I can just “make” them. So which ones?

Here’s a couple detail shots – yos for the increases, and the whole thing was fairly loosely knit.

What would a completed sweater be without the Rachael?

    Details – Silk Garden Cardi
    Pattern: top-down cardi
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden, colour 211, 6 skeins
    Needles: US 9 Denises
    Started: March 24, 2005
Finished: April 4, 2005 (not counting the buttons)

    One more thing, somewhat unrelatedly.
(I’m in the mood for finishing – I think I could burn through sewing on buttons, putting in zippers, waistband and hook-and-eye tape on almost-but-not-quite-finished-objects, but I’ve got a ton of schoolwork to do! Hopefully that motivation will still be there on the weekend…)

I’m going to put three of these

on my Tartan Jacket. What do I use for the loops? Crochet chains? Faux suede laces (that I’d have to buy)? Something else?

  • we have sleeve

Two sleeves, actually. This pic’s better for the colour…although it’s a bit darker in real life.

I also started a most yummy sock, one that can actually travel with me (unlike the blue ones on Lantern Moons – they were 2.25 mm, by the way).

They’re Koigu Kersti, on 3.5 mm needles, destined to be knee socks if I have enough yarn (we’ll see). They are so nice and cushy, and should be fast, too!

Tonight at SnB I shall work on the sleeve of the Corset Pullover and try to get it done. I need to knit it to match the other one (which I screwed up the twisted ribbing on, but you can’t tell) so I should probably pay attention on that one…
