  • cotton and more cotton

Nothing much to report, although I did rediscover why I don’t like sewing very much. I can handle straight seams, curved seams, even zippers. But a dress I worked on the other night has gotten the better of me, and I give up on that. Not that it’s difficult, but after all the struggles it doesn’t even fit. Bah. Oh well. I did cut pieces for a tried-and-true skirt, so I’m off to sew that up shortly.

So. Cotton-Ease. I think I will buy some now (well, this week). But what colours? I’m thinking strawberry cream, blueberry, maybe just a skein or two of pistachio (pink + green = yay) and one of banana cream or pineapple. What do y’all think on that? Banana cream or pineapple?

I’m oh-so-close to being done the knitting of the phildar jacket. Seaming shall commence tonight, and maybe a new project will too.

  • week of doom

Three exams in the next four days…

I made a little yarn on the drop spindle – this is actually my second attempt (we won’t talk about the first attempt). Wayyy overtwisted, but I can work on that. And if someone wanted to give me a little lesson on Wednesday night…well, I don’t have any fiber or any time to buy fiber, so bring me some!

(I have, however, ordered quite a bit of roving off eBay. I blame the stress.)

    Knitting? What knitting?

(They think they’re being punished because they’re shoved in a corner with no attention.)

  • not much knittin’

Yep, it’s true. I hardly have any time to knit because I desperately need to study :( We’ll see how long it is before I go completely batty. I’ve decided that I’m going to the Knitter’s Frolic on Saturday though, so between that and the book launch I should have enough knitting around me – plus I’m not NOT knitting completely, just severely reduced.

Here’s a shot of the Phildar jacket sleeves. One down, one to go. It’s really fast when I can work on it. Suppose I should get moving on this so I can actually wear it – I’m actually re-thinking the fronts though. With such a lightweight yarn is double-breasted really a good idea? Hm. I might just make it into a normal front jacket. Hm.

Meanwhile, I’ve got this (yep, I made it):

to help me deal with this:

See you at the launch tomorrow!
