The first tier of the Koigu skirt is put together, and that hardly took any time at all!

In a bout of startits, I started some Retro Rib socks (juuuust started) with the Shelridge Farm stuff I bought at KW:

…and a brioche stitch scarf out of some super-soft Inca Alpaca – I think in the States it’s called Misti Alpaca Grande, or something like that.

I also finally received my Vera, and a skein of Fleece Artist merino sock in “Renaissance”. And guess what? The Vera’s the same dyelot as mine! The second knee sock has been cast on, after a slight hiccup – I provisionally cast on the actual amount of stiches (instead of half) and only realized after the first agonizing row. D’oh!

  • so cozy

Cozy I will be…if it ever cools off!

    Cozy
    Pattern: Cozy from knitty
Yarn: Jaggerspun Wool/Silk 4/8 on a cone from redbirdknits, “Steel”, with lots of leftovers
    Needles: Denise US8
    Started: March 6, 2005
    Finished: September 6, 2005

Since I put this away in the summer for a few months, I was pretty into getting it done when I got back around to it. The yarn is super soft and silky, and blocked beautifully – and I love the colour. Not sure what to do with the extra yarn – now would be a great time for a yarn meter! I didn’t make the shawl as long as stated in the pattern, but it’s plenty long enough for me. Perfect for the fall!

    A couple glamour shots:

I also finished up one zinnia sock on the subway today – amazing what you can knit on the subway if you actually, you know, knit (as opposed to sleep) on that train ride.

Now, the garment formerly known as the wrappy sweater. As you can see, there’s no wrapping here. So, I’m renaming it the “Cavern” sweater. Hrm…maybe I ought to try coming up with names that aren’t the yarn colour or name. It is dark dark brown, not blue like the photo would have you believe.

Weaving in the ends and some buttons, and it’ll be all done!

  • wednesday

Creative title, eh? I’m rather tired tonight, so a not-so-interesting title it is.

Six months exactly after being cast on, Cozy was off the needles and on the wires.

It took all my long wires (6) to block, and is about the same length or a bit longer than my bed. Luckily it dried quickly, so I could reclaim me floor! Modelled pic as soon as I can manage – it is so very comfy and soft, well worth the wait.

I’ve finished one sleeve of the wrappy sweater and am about halfway done the second – just straight knitting to the cuff. The body’s still up in the air; I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it. Maybe the button thing, this time.

Last night while reading “These Happy Golden Years” (eighth in the “Little House” series by Laura Ingalls Wilder….ah, comfort reading) I cast on for a v-neck sweater, henceforth known as “Cloud”, but managed to twist the cast-on the first time through.

A rip, re-cast-on and a couple episodes of CSI has given me this:

That’s into the second ball already, and I have 10 – I hope it’s enough. If not, 3/4 length sleeves it is!

P.S. Thanks for all the compliments on Mon Petit Chou and er…my behind! I don’t know that I’ll wear them alllll that much, because they don’t fit under normal trousers and are a bit lumpy for under skirts, but hey, at least they only took 2 days!
