• knitting ramblings

I have come to a decision.

I am going to wait for the backordered Lamb’s Pride Bulky in Spice to be shipped to the store. I will not impulsively purchase the yarn off the internet. There are many good reasons for this.

    a) Employee discount
    b) no shipping charges
    c) I have lots of other things to knit at the moment
    d) it won’t be cold enough to wear it for a few months
    e) hardly any online retailers accept Paypal
    f) Threadbear is likely so busy at the moment I wouldn’t get my yarn for a long time anyway
    g) I really ought to make some more money before I go spending it

    So there.

Bella’s coming along pretty quickly, I’ve done about 7 inches of the back. Yay!

I need to go to bed…going climbing tomorrow…but I’m kind of feeling like I don’t want to go. I will, though – I have a time set up with a friend and everything. Okay then, off to bed.

  • picture time!

Ask, and ye shall receive (to the best of my abilities). Click for big on all the pics.

First up, the 2x2x3x1 Ribby Cardie from Chicknits. Pattern not available anymore.

Done with Lion Brand Cotton Ease that my parents bought in the States, 5 skeins on size 8 and 9 Denise needles and Clover Bamboo dpns. I doubled the size of the front seed stitch band, and altered the collar. It’s comfy!

Now for works in progress: my top-down.

It’s a little darker in real life, but the pic is pretty close. I love the cables – they really pop!

    And finally, Bella.

This Pop-up generator is most awesome. Thanks again, Carrie!

Gotta run, lots of things to do today!

  • bellissima!

Still no pics today. Tomorrow, I promise! It’s boring without pictures, I know…

At any rate, I am now freeeeeee of school for three weeks and 2 days, and I can knit my little fingers off willy-nilly. My cabled top-down is progressing nicely – hmm. I think it needs a name…then colour is a pine-y-blue, and it’s got a cable down the front. Any ideas?

I’ve also started Bella, from White Lies. It’s sooo beautiful and fun. I’ve got maybe 2 inches of the back done, and it seems to be working up pretty fast – even though I’ll be knitting forever with the longer length, it’ll still be fun. I’m using Naturelle 8/8 from elann, in a nice heathery gray, and number 9 Denise needles. I went a little bigger with the needle because a) my number 8 is rather occupied at the moment, being shared between two projects; and b) I want it to end up a little bigger than the 38″ finished size. I did swatch, and I’m getting just a slightly larger gauge, a fraction of a stitch. So that should work out.

I think that’s about it..for now. Hooray for freedom! (not the US brand, not that I mean to offend anyone.)
