• time warp

Huh. It feels like I haven’t posted in ages…and I don’t have any pictures to share today, so this will probably be rather short.

Today at work it was strange – it felt like the day would never end. Now, of course this isn’t because I don’t like my job or anything, it’s just that when I checked my watch, it felt so much later than it actually was. Maybe this was spurred by the fact that I have worked the last two days as well; or the fact that when I usually work on the weekend (Sunday), I have shorter hours.

I’ve been out the last few nights, so I haven’t had much time to work on my jacket. I’m thinking that the end of next week might be a really good time for her to make her debut – the forecast is something like 7 degrees (Celsius) for thursday or friday. I’m done the second sleeve, so there’s just the fronts (which are considerably smaller than the sleeves), the cuffs (very small indeed), the collar, and the finishing. I’m hoping to get the two sleeves blocking tomorrow night, and the first front done by then – I’ve got about 8 inches of it done, and the night is still young. Plus the rows can only get shorter once I start the armhole and neck shaping!

I’ve worked a little bit on my LoTech, and I’ve finished the first ball of Cotton-Ease. I’m about 12 inches up the back.

I felt like shit this morning, and so I think I have learned my lesson – moderation on working nights! Sheesh. By the way, my test this week went..ok. Not spectacular either way, so we’ll see.

  • midterm #1

My internet was being really weird last night, so I couldn’t post – I don’t really have much to say today anyway.

Last night at SnB I worked on my second sleeve, but not very much. When I came home, I managed to get to the first horizontal stripe, which is about 9″ into the sleeve. I’m hoping tonight to come home, get a snack, watch ER and a couple more hours of TV and finish the second sleeve.

Yesterday I bid on two things on eBay – a bag of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino SuperChunky (usually goes for $150 US, my bid was something like $110 CDN) and a big of Rowan Big Wool (around the same bid, but goes for about $220 CDN). I do hope to be outbid, because I really can’t spend all that money. I did get an outbid notice on the DB last night, but nothing on the Big Wool. Well, if I win the Big Wool, I think that’ll be ok. At least it’s not both.

I’ve got a midterm tonight, 6 pm, in “Psychology of Language”. Oy.

I don’t know what it is with knitting causing me to act and feel like a crazy person, but there it is.

I’ve been looking all over for an acceptable substitute for the cashmere yarn (Classic Elite Indulge) used in the “Unisex Knock-Around Cashmere Pullover” from “Weekend Knitting”, although I probably won’t get around to that for some while. I’ve looked at Lang MAX and Patons UpCountry as possibilities, but I just don’t know. I think I’d want it to be something I could wear all year, like on cool spring evenings and such. Maybe a cotton blend is the way to go? Also that way there wouldn’t be any itchies issues.

I worked a little bit on my LoTech sweat today – just the back ribbing. And then there’s the Tartan Jacket, which I wish I could have worn today – although maybe it wasn’t quite cool enough yet for that. I’ve started a sleeve and hope to get a good chunk of that done tonight…AFTER I finish typing up my linguistics assignment due tomorrow.
