• all gone

Was I right or was I right?? I just checked Elann, and less then 12 hours after going on sale there’s only 6 balls left of one colour of the Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran. I didn’t get any because I’m waiting for the tweed instead – I’ll have to be up for 9!

Today I went to Romni…looked all around and such, and looked through the Rowan books for all the big-gauge yarns. I didn’t buy anything – there’s just too much. Plus it’s such a mess in there. Unless I really need some specific yarn for a project and there’s nothing suitable on Elann or something, I think it’ll be awhile before I go there again.

Afterwards I walked over to the Knit Cafe, and had a cappuccino and sat and knit for awhile. Very nice space, lots of light, good coffee. Too far for me, though. I probably won’t go there very often. But still, it was nice and I got to feel Cascade 220.

I promise to post some progress pics tonight, just as soon as my batteries are charged!

  • non-turkey day

Since I don’t eat turkey and all. But enjoy yours, if that’s what you eat!

Anyway, I think I may have come to a conclusion on yarn for the not-Cashmere Pullover from Weekend Knitting – and it doesn’t involve buying anything. I think I’m going to rip my Banff and use the Patons Upcountry. It’s nice and rugged, a pretty colour (plum), and fairly soft. We’ll see when I actually get around to doing it, though…

I have started blocking the pieces of the Tartan! I’m a pin-and-spray-er, although I think I would be a steamer if I had an iron that actually made decent steam. I’m blocking the two sleeves and the two cuffs right now, and hoping that the sleeves will turn out the same size – they’re blocked to the same measurements, but one looks longer than the other. Maybe it’s just an optical illusion (I hope so!). I’ve also finished the first front! The end is near!

I’d better go do some schoolwork, if I’m hoping to get downtown for SnB today!

  • a credit card number later….

I’ve won my first eBay auction! 10 balls of Rowan Big Wool in “merry berry” (apparently discontinued). I received the notice this morning, and paid through PayPal on my credit card right then. I didn’t even go to my maximum bid – I won for $86 USD plus $10 shipping, and with the most favourable exchange rate, it was only $109 CDN! Anyway, I’m looking at patterns and hoping I like the colour. If I do, it shall become a snuggly cardigan. If not so much, a comfy blanket, or possibly accessories.

This afternoon at the store I finished the cuffs for my Tartan Jacket, and started the raglan shaping on the back of my lotech.

Off to peruse the Knitting Garden’s Rowan books, and then knit and watch the premiere of Enterprise!

    Happy Thanksgiving!
