So. Adele has tagged me. I considered pulling a Rachael and not doing it but…here I am.

1.) Total amount of music files on your computer:
I’ve got 3.42 GB in my iTunes, more in my iPod – I put stuff on my iPod and then delete it from the computer.

2.) The last CD you bought was:
I really can’t remember, I haven’t bought a CD in a really long time. For Christmas I received the new Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Blink-182, and Big Shiny Tunes 9.

3.) What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
Ummm. I think it was “under pressure” by queen, on the radio.

4.) What are your five favorite songs and why they mean the most to you:
Who says favourite means the most to you? I’ve got lots of songs that mean a lot but aren’t my favourites… Anyway.

Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends

    Alexisonfire – Accidents

    Ben Folds – Annie Waits

    Blink-182 – Go

    Coldplay – Green Eyes

5). What 3 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?

    No one, I think.

On to a bit of knitting news. I’m rather tired, so this could be a bit disjointed. I finished the first sleeve of the Urban Aran, and the Highland Chunky feels really nice knit up, especially in ribbing. I also managed to snap off the end of one of my US 6 Denise needles, so Retro-Prep is on hold for a week or so until I get a needle replacement. I’m working on the neverending upper leg (above the calf increases) portion of the tall socks, but I’ve switched to a 16″ circ so things should go pretty quickly.

I’m feeling kind of overwhelmed at the amount of projects I’ve got going now, so I’m going to set a list of goals for this weekend. It’s the only way I feel in control and it also forces me to be productive!

    – finish at least 1 tall sock
    – do 1 sleeve of the top-down cardi
    edit, saturday:
    – weave in ends on vest and block
    – OBB (secret project)

The list is short because I’ve got some serious schoolin’ to do!

  • so much shit to do

Long, long week. I’m so glad I don’t have any more labs until after reading week; but I have three midterms coming up (one next week, two HUGE ones the week after reading week). Knitting progress should really slow down. Cuz, you know, I need to actually write things down in order to learn them – I can read fine while knitting, but it does take up both the hands.

Anyway, I’m past the increases on both my tall socks, and now I’m going to just work even for another, oh, 10 inches or so. I think each sock is only going to take two balls of Esprit, so that’ll leave me two to try out a matching Betty. I think I’ll probably write up the pattern for these socks, too.

Not much else going on. I’m up to the cap shaping of my Urban Aran sleeve, which goes blessedly quickly due to the US 10 needles and chunky yarn. Yay.

I’m having computer problems (battery won’t charge on my iBook and I’m not sure I have a warranty) so send good vibes!

Wow, lots of comments on the Manos! I gotta admit, I love comments. Onto some answers to questions!

Monica asked what colo(u)rway the Manos is – it’s 106. Definitely a favourite now!

Marie and Erin wanted to know what pattern I’m using. Well, the answer is, I’m not really using a pattern. I love top-downs mainly because you don’t really need one! It’s sort of a la glampyre, but her cardi pattern is a) for a lighter weight yarn and b) steeked. So here’s how I’m working mine…

I cast on 87 stitches and worked 1×1 rib back and forth, beginning and ending with a knit stitch, for about an inch or so. Then I knit across half the front stitches (15), place marker, knit across sleeve stitches (13), place marker, knit across back stitches (31), place marker, sleeve (13), place marker, half the front stitches (15). Then you just work in stockinette stitch flat, keeping the first and last 5 stitches in garter st, and increasing on either side of each marker on every right side row until the sleeve can meet under your arm. Put the sleeve stitches on holders, and cast on an inch or so of stitches under the arm, and keep knitting back and forth until the body’s as long as you want. I haven’t gotten to the sleeves yet, so I don’t know how I’m going to do the decreases. I can write this up into an actual pattern when I’m done if anyone is interested.

Anyway, I seem to have been rather busy the last two days because I haven’t knit much. I’m up to the increases on the body of the Retro Prep, and the Manos cardigan has begun the foray into a solid colour. The vest is all done except for weaving in the ends and blocking…you know, I should get to that. I want to work on the socks, too.

So many projects, so little time!
