New Rusholme Pattern – and Gleener Giveaway!

I had a few requests for the pattern for this sweater, and it’s finally ready! And if you scroll down, I have a fun giveaway today!

RUSHOLME is a cozy zippered cardigan with chunky seed stitch details and optional patch pockets. A little bit of waist shaping is worked on the back only, for a flattering but easy fit. The deep cuffs, fronts and long sailor collar are all edged with attached I-cord for a lovely clean finish. A one or two-way zipper makes Rusholme super easy to throw on every day, but it can also be worn open, or closed with toggles.

Worked as seamless raglan from the bottom up, with body knit flat and sleeves worked in the round. Can be worn with negative ease for a close fit, or make a larger size for extra coziness. For the best size, measure a sweater you like the fit of, and make the size closest to it. Shown in size 40” / 100cm with about 2” / 5cm of negative ease.

a new friend

Last week I took a quick break from my (many) sweater projects to whip up a test knit – this is Poklon by ysolda, the latest of her Knitworthy patterns.

Isn’t he so cute?! Ysolda’s pup is a girl, but I think mine is a boy.

There were some very slight changes to the pattern while I was knitting and editing it, but overall it was very quick, if a bit fiddly (like most toys). Make sure you have enough stuffing, because it takes more than you think to make it firm enough!

I used Cascade Eco wool and 4mm needles, so my pup is bigger – about 24″ from the base of the tail to the tip of the nose. I think he might need a sweater!

I didn’t have safety eyes, so I just embroidered on the eyes with brown and black sock yarn. I used the black sock yarn doubled for the nose and mouth – I love the little smile! Embroidering good faces is hard, so don’t worry if you have to redo it a couple times. I certainly needed to.

Probably as close to a pet dog as we’ll get, living in this apartment! Pretty great for snuggles, and no cleaning up after him. ;) The pattern is available as part of the Knitworthy collection. Check it out on Ravelry.

sexy yarns

What do you think, can yarn be sexy? I think so.

New handspun – polwarth/silk.

This one’s more fun than sexy, but I made this little magic ball awhile back and decided to swatch with it. It’s quite short lengths of Koigu (probably 12-24″), Russian joined together to make a scrappy ball. (What’s a Russian join, you ask?)

I swatched with some gorgeously bouncy, round Targhee from Dirty Water Dyeworks, Johanna in colour Pond. Swoon. Itching to cast on for this sweater!

Sexy yarn samples! I think my favourite is Hat Box (superwash merino, silk, cashmere, fingering weight) but Steamer Trunk (plied superwash merino, worsted weight) would make an amazing sweater! I love the colour of this Satchel sample, too. Thanks Mrs. Crosby!

Sexiest of all? Handmaiden 4ply cashmere. Started a new cowl project that I’m quite excited about – it looks like double crochet but it’s actually knit!
