  • non-turkey day

Since I don’t eat turkey and all. But enjoy yours, if that’s what you eat!

Anyway, I think I may have come to a conclusion on yarn for the not-Cashmere Pullover from Weekend Knitting – and it doesn’t involve buying anything. I think I’m going to rip my Banff and use the Patons Upcountry. It’s nice and rugged, a pretty colour (plum), and fairly soft. We’ll see when I actually get around to doing it, though…

I have started blocking the pieces of the Tartan! I’m a pin-and-spray-er, although I think I would be a steamer if I had an iron that actually made decent steam. I’m blocking the two sleeves and the two cuffs right now, and hoping that the sleeves will turn out the same size – they’re blocked to the same measurements, but one looks longer than the other. Maybe it’s just an optical illusion (I hope so!). I’ve also finished the first front! The end is near!

I’d better go do some schoolwork, if I’m hoping to get downtown for SnB today!

  • a credit card number later….

I’ve won my first eBay auction! 10 balls of Rowan Big Wool in “merry berry” (apparently discontinued). I received the notice this morning, and paid through PayPal on my credit card right then. I didn’t even go to my maximum bid – I won for $86 USD plus $10 shipping, and with the most favourable exchange rate, it was only $109 CDN! Anyway, I’m looking at patterns and hoping I like the colour. If I do, it shall become a snuggly cardigan. If not so much, a comfy blanket, or possibly accessories.

This afternoon at the store I finished the cuffs for my Tartan Jacket, and started the raglan shaping on the back of my lotech.

Off to peruse the Knitting Garden’s Rowan books, and then knit and watch the premiere of Enterprise!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  • time warp

Huh. It feels like I haven’t posted in ages…and I don’t have any pictures to share today, so this will probably be rather short.

Today at work it was strange – it felt like the day would never end. Now, of course this isn’t because I don’t like my job or anything, it’s just that when I checked my watch, it felt so much later than it actually was. Maybe this was spurred by the fact that I have worked the last two days as well; or the fact that when I usually work on the weekend (Sunday), I have shorter hours.

I’ve been out the last few nights, so I haven’t had much time to work on my jacket. I’m thinking that the end of next week might be a really good time for her to make her debut – the forecast is something like 7 degrees (Celsius) for thursday or friday. I’m done the second sleeve, so there’s just the fronts (which are considerably smaller than the sleeves), the cuffs (very small indeed), the collar, and the finishing. I’m hoping to get the two sleeves blocking tomorrow night, and the first front done by then – I’ve got about 8 inches of it done, and the night is still young. Plus the rows can only get shorter once I start the armhole and neck shaping!

I’ve worked a little bit on my LoTech, and I’ve finished the first ball of Cotton-Ease. I’m about 12 inches up the back.

I felt like shit this morning, and so I think I have learned my lesson – moderation on working nights! Sheesh. By the way, my test this week went..ok. Not spectacular either way, so we’ll see.
