  • finally, on two fronts

The purple socks are finally done. I don’t know why they took so long, but once I picked them up again last week, they’ve gone decently fast. I’m glad they’re done though.

    Purple Socks
Pattern: basic pattern, on 64 stitches with 3×1 ribbing
Yarn: Lang Jawoll Cotton Jacquardm 2 skeins
Needles: 2.5 mm Garnstudio bamboo circ
    Started: April 18, 2005
    Finished: May 26, 2005

They started out matching so perfectly, but they didn’t by the end. See the black on one toe? I kind of cut it off in the photo, but the bottom sock doesn’t have any black on the toe. Also, the dark stripes on one socks are lighter and muddier-looking than the other. Hm. Oh well.

    Also…..*drumroll please*….

Bloglines is now working! Maybe it’s just that I couldn’t find the feed using the search before – I could only find it via “add feed” or whatever. Anyway, I did see that people are subscribed to a number of feeds for this blog – I’ve now deleted all but one, so I’m sorry if you find yourself without my feed again! Resubscribe!

  • I needs me a wheel

Denny’s yesterday was fun! Stephanie and Emma were there as well. I hoarded Denny’s majacraft little gem, and spun up some white corriedale.

The big skein is a pretty damn big skein – about 160 yards of chunky/bulky 2-ply. The little skein is just the singles left over from the bigger bobbin. I’ll be kool-aid dyeing shortly! I can’t wait to get a wheel, but I’m going to restrain myself until the end of term (end of June), lest I be too distracted. I found the website of a place in Kingston that includes shipping and taxes in their price, and has a good price on the Kiwi.

In knitting news, I’ve finally finished a few things, so after a wash and block they’ll be ready for their debut!

  • oops, and a fix

The other night I finished up the edging on the wavy skirt. I put it down, took a look, and saw this:

A purl stitch in the middle of an ocean of stockinette. Now, if this was in an inconspicuous place on the skirt, I might’ve left well enough alone. But no, it was smack dab on the front. What to do? Why, snip it.

    and then graft.

All fixed, although now I’m not quite sure how to hide those ends. I’ll think about it later tonight.

What else…I’ve been working diligently on the purple socks, because I want to get them done.

I stashed a little bit this weekend…some roving (going to spin at Denny’s house today! Right now!):

And some yarn – cotton, viscose and silk.

It’s sportweight (24 sts/4″). Any suggestions for summery tops?
