  • ewwww

First of all, thanks for all the compliments on Cavern! I’ve already worn it once, and I do think it’ll be a great staple for fall. As for the pattern, I don’t know when I’ll get around to it (I’m so busy with school) but it’ll probably be around sometime. No promises, sorry!

I finally finished spinning up the rhubarb wool that I bought from the KW fair.

It’s two big skeins (I don’t know the yardage; I was too lazy to count), and one tiny skein that I’ll probably swatch with. It’s 50% mohair, and 50% polwarth leicester cross.

But I do know why it was so cheap – it wasn’t very clean…

That was part of my spinning towel after one spinning session, and I even had to vacuum my wheel and the floor around it. There was lots of hay and random VM. Ewww. Plus, I reinforced my not-craziness about mohair. All in all, it’s kind of pretty. And I love the colour.

I finished the back of Katy!

It’s sooooo nice. I can’t wait to wear it, so I’d better get moving!

  • now you see

    Now you don’t:

I really wanted the buttons to work – the other half was crocheted loops, since I didn’t plan where to put buttonholes or angthing like that. But when I put on the sweater, they looked like crap. Ties is it, and finished object photos this weekend.

I did get the Koigu, finally!

It was only posted yesterday, via expedited, so I got it today – along with a nice note from Joanne apologizing for the delay. Nice!

I’m completely dead tired, so instead of pushing myself to read/finish a project/whatever, I’m just going to take a shower and get to bed. Night!

One week of school down, many more to go! I think I’ll be able to knit a bit during certain classes, too.

In the meanwhile, I cast on provisionally for the sleeves of Cloud, and started the yoke. I’m doing a v-neck, and I’m rather worried about running out of yarn. That’s why I’m going to knit the sleeves downward – so I can just go until I run out of yarn. The sweater turned out bigger than I wanted, even though I swatched and cast on for a smaller size than my actual size. Hrmph. Oh well, it’s not huge, it’s just not fitted.

I’m a little more into the yoke now than the photo shows – it’s going pretty quickly, since I’m decreasing 10 stitches every other row.

Finally, some spinning – this is the first bobbin of the “Rhubarb” fibre that I bought at KW. It’s 50% mohair, 50% Polwarth Leicster cross. I said it before, and I’ll say it again…mohair doesn’t really do it for me. It’s pretty, though.

I took another 2 hours or so tonight and finished the second bobbin, so I’ll be all set to ply on the weekend. Thing with this stuff is, first of all I can’t get it very even – I’m used to combed top, and I think this stuff is carded. Second, it’s full of VM (vegetable matter)! Today I put a towel on my lap to catch everything, and it’s pretty gross. I suppose that’s why it was so cheap…
