  • the last week.

This is the last free week before school starts again on the 9th. Damn.

I’ve finished the back of Jenna, and I’m just past the ribbing on the front – I forgot that I was supposed to use a smaller needle for the ribbing, but oh well. I had only used 1 size smaller for the ribbing, and it doesn’t really look any different than the ribbing on the back. Hopefully I’ve have lots of sitting around today, so I can get a good amount done on this top.

I brought home the two colours of Lamb’s Pride Bulky that I need for the Tartan Jacket that we have in stock – loden leaf and tahiti teal. The rest of the yarn is coming by UPS this time, so hopefully it’ll be in the store next week. I really want to start the jacket, but patience, laura, patience!

I was looking through the flyers and came upon the one from Old Navy. Cheaply made and morally questionable of course, but they do have some cute clothes. Anyway, I noticed that they’ve got a shawl-collared cardigan on sale for $36 (CDN). The shawl collar thing seems to be everywhere these days, and I like it! Maybe I’ll get to making one.

I’ve also been thinking about making a few things that I could sell on consignment in the store – people are always very interested in buying things in our window, and maybe I could capitalize on it with some scarves and ponchos or something.

Oy. Still paying for a little too much last night. An interesting BAC calculator.

  • sticky and gross…

…describes the weather today. It wasn’t really that warm, but the humidity and smog made it feel so very yucky.

I’m working away on a really awesome sweater in Noro Kureyon and Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride in the store from the new Noro book! If you want to see it, come on down! It was a bit trying to knit with the wool in all the heat, though.

On my way home today I stopped by Lewiscraft (gasp!) and picked up some more Classic Wool – the sale ends tomorrow. I bought two balls of a bright red, and one each of black, natural, a nice forest green and dark gray mix. I’m thinking leg and armwarmers, and Christmas presents. Not much else knitting-wise to tell today, but since I’m home earlier in the evening for once, I’m aiming to finish the back of Jenna tonight. I’ll have pictures up later tonight (promise! sorry for the lack of pictures lately).

D’oh of the day – I left my really cute, compact umbrella on the subway train today.

P.S. I got into the knitting blog ring! Cool!

  • fast frustration frenzy

I’m going to try and do this entry really fast, so forgive any typos that might creep in…beware of rant.

    I. AM. SO. FRUSTRATED!

Today after work I stopped by the Computer Services Center at College and Spadina and purchased 512 MB of RAM for my iBook. I overpaid a bit (a pretty damn good amount, actually) and they don’t have cash refunds. So for over $200 I brought my little prize home. Proceeded to install it, after spending a few minutes trying to find a little tiny Phillips head screwdriver. Lo and behold, I have 640 MB of RAM. Unfortunately – things started crashing left and right. Word. Acrobat Reader. Firefox wouldn’t even run. Then my computer told me to restart. The next time I tried logging out of my “everyday” account to get into my admin, to install some software updates to my computer – I got a scary/weird DOS-esque screen called “Darwin”. Kept restarting and seeing what happened. Finally gave up and took out the RAM – and guess what, now it works again. I’m going to have to take it back and see if it works when they install it. And if it doesn’t, I’m going to FIGHT for my actual money back (screw the store credit if they’re going to sell me a shitty product).

Also: After removing my RAM, I went on the Apple website to enroll my AppleCare plan (as the one-year warrantee is going to run out soon). Apple website BLOWS and although I managed to sign up for an AppleID and THEN CHANGE MY PASSWORD, it insists it doesn’t have my data in the system.

    GAHHHHHH!

    < / rant >

And now I’m going to bed. I meant to go to bed earlier tonight but was sidetracked by all of this. Knitting content – I was so distracted and frustrated I messed up on Jenna and had to rip out 10 rows.
