So apparently all this finishing has pissed off the Knitting Goddesses. I was even getting ready to write a post called “The secrets to my success” (which include being able to knit quickly, knitting ALL THE TIME, doing simple stockinette pieces, etc) so obviously, I was getting cocky and needed to be busted down a peg.

Which brings me to the Licorice Cardi. I’ve sewing up the facing, knit a collar (which in itself was a bit of a trial), and woven in the ends. I’ve also done one underarm seam. (Please excuse the bluriness, I seem to have pissed off the photography gods too.)

Lined up all nice, stitches that had been on holders from the sleeve and body.

Now…you remember how my fronts had different numbers of stitches? Yeah.

See that bit of red yarn? It’s the underarm stitches held from the sleeve.

There should be a corresponding piece of red yarn holding the underarm stitches from the body. There is not.

    ACK.

Oh well, I’m sure as hell not ripping it out.

  • ever have one of those days..

..where things just won’t go your way? Wreck your dinner, can’t focus on studying…

oh, and the knitting doesn’t agree with you either? Yeah, those days.

    The Evidence: Item 1.

Do you see what I see? The fronts (to the markers) have a different number of stitches from each other. And this was at the end of one very. long. yoke. Just to make sure (since we all know that the camera sees all) I took a picture of the whole thing – after I bound off the neck. I’ll figure out the collar later.

    Looks ok…I think.

    Item 2.

My beloved Cotton-ease, in Cherry Red. I swatched for the Rebecca “Apricot Cardigan”, and did get gauge on 5.5 mm needles. BUT, I have determined that the colour is just too damn bright for me. So does anyone want this Cotton-ease? I’ve got 6 balls less that little swatch – $3 each, what do you say?

Luckily, after midnight things started looking up. I worked a bit on Cozy – I was feeling frustrated and downright depressed, and this helped. Mmm, wool and silk…I’m still not yet a third of the way done.

I started spinning up the wool I received yesterday. I wasn’t too keen on the colours in the roving, but this is GORGEOUS.

Now I’m all excited about doing my own dyeing – I love the vibrant colours of this roving, and I know I won’t really get that with Koolaid, but I’m not feeling into spending the money and effort on acid dyes. Plus, once I’m done with the POUND of white corridale I’ve got to dye, I can also buy dyed roving to spin.

P.S. I kind of just forgot to write the “yarn” part of “piles of projects and yarn” – I was thinking about how much Cotton-ease I’ve got coming my way, and got kind of woozy. 8 balls of Licorice, 6 of Blueberry, 5 of Banana Cream, and at least 8 of Strawberry cream. So, you know, I really need to vacate the space taken up by that Cherry Red.

  • in craft up to my ears

I’ve got so many things to do, and very many of them are crafty which makes me happy! Of course, there’s still that pesky exam next week, but…we won’t talk about that (don’t worry, I’ve got my schedule all set up and will be studying muchly – this exam’s worth 50%!).

I received a Global Priority Mail box! It contained some yummy fiber.

The white is a pound of Corriedale top which I’m planning to dye with Kool-aid when I have some time, and the light blue is Ingeo – corn fiber! It’s cooool, but I don’t want to mess it up so it’ll probably wait around for a little bit while I, you know, learn to spin better.

I also got this handpainted Wensleydale top.

As for the knitting, I seem to have been bitten by a bout of startitis. The Phildar Jacket looks like this…

    But I’ve started these:

Soleil, out of the Madil All Seasons (I love lace!)…

…and a cardigan out of black Cotton-Ease (I love you Cotton-ease!). It’s a raglan with kangaroo pockets and – my favourite part – both a knit-in hem at the bottom and a facing for the zipper at the front edges.

So you can see I’ve got quite a few things to keep me busy – I’m also working on a springy skirt for myself, as well as bags to put up for sale. Also, I’m going to redesign and launch my own domain which will house the blog plus a little webshop – if anyone wants to offer their coding expertise, I would be ever so grateful! Oh, and I got a *great* deal on registering the domain, server space, etc. – less than $10 for a year! Email me if you’re interested in the deets.

    Happy Monday!
