  • the sweet smell of freedom..

So I’m done school for the time being – until the 16th, when I start summer session four days a week. Ouch. In the meantime – finish the licorice cardi, or Phildar jacket, both only hours away from completion? Nah.

I’m SO not in the mood for finishing work. The solution? A knit in the round tank, out of All Season’s Cotton, which shall be a fast knit with minimal finishing. Love it.

Oh, and I made another skirt!

Sorry for the lack of a modelled pic, but I’m not in the get-dressed-for-blog-pics mood. It’s the same pattern as last time (Butterick 3134, with modifications), but this time it was much, much faster to make, because it’s fresh in my mind what I need to be doing with it.

Since there’s so little knitting content, let’s take a look at the 100% cotton batik fabric, shall we?

One more thing…I know people are trying to subscribe on Bloglines, and my feed *still* isn’t beign recognized. Little help? Dani, could you maybe send me your rss2.php file so I can take a look and see if mine’s at all different?

I finished this cute summery skirt.

It’s 100% cotton. It’s unlined, so it’s very light and swingy! It was a pain in the ass though…ah well, I’ll know for next time – follow logic and not the pattern.

I’ve also been knitting – doing the waist decreases on Soleil:

Spinning, too – I started spinning up the dyed Wensleydale top. I think I might finally have gotten the drafting thing a little better, because this is quite a bit thinner and a bit more consistent than what I was getting before.

Last but not least, I finished my first bag for sale!

Both inner and outer material are 100% cotton, preshrunk. Outside a black and white fish print, inside purple check. The straps are 100% acrylic, but are flexible and soft like cotton. In the second pic, the bag’s holding 3 skeins 1 balls of yarn and isn’t even half full! Dimensions are approx 11″ x 4″ x 10″. Special intro price is $25 USD or $32 CDN which includes shipping! Email me if you’re interested – I take Paypal (balance transfer only) or personal check.

I’ll be setting up a temporary page soon for this stuff, and I’m trying to get my new website up and running too! I’d better get to work!

Thanks for all the compliments on the corset pullover! It’s really comfortable and does fit really well. Template numbers for other tops, perhaps. I’ll definitely be wearing it to the book launch on Wednesday, but I might have to wear my winter coat to be warm enough! (Reminder: SnB at lettuce knit is moved to said book launch!)

There’s a shot of my sock-in-progress atop my botany textbook. That one’s done now, and I’m on the leg of the second. I’ve also been working on the Phildar jacket, although there isn’t much progress to report, and a bit on Cozy. I’m trying to knit up the projects I’ve got going before I start something new – likely the Rebecca Apricot Jacket (in red Cotton-ease) but I really feel like buying some pink yarn and making a ribbed cardigan or something.

I finished sewing in the zipper on the Lotech sweat (finally!) but I haven’t taken a picture, and I don’t really feel like taking one, either. So I suppose that one just goes unphotographed, because I put the sweater on and realized it really, really was too big. I don’t know what I was thinking. Luckily though, it fit my sister, and being cotton blend and machine washable, suitable to give her. And since I wasn’t the one who paid for the yarn, it all turns out ok. All that labour, though. At least someone’s getting something out of it!

I’m trying to be good about buying yarn, but just now I started thinking about pink cotton blends, all seasons cotton and calmer (I’d order from Jannette, of course…sigh, maybe for my birthday), and cotton fleece (a retro-prep…it would be sooo nice). We’ll see how long my resolve lasts.
