  • flurry of activity

Days have been lost in the blur of work, rockin’ snb, so many “lace wings” patterns + sea silk orders, unpacking and pricing about fifty colours of yarns, buying bras (who knew I was a DD???!) and a watch, having family over, and discovering that Cafe Diplomatico really sucks.

Knitting soon to come. I have the day off tomorrow!

  • oh, I’m in trouble now

First off, thanks for all the birthday wishes! I had a really nice day, even though it was SO. HOT. What’s better than a frosty beer? I went on the Steam Whistle Brewery tour, which was fun (and I got a bottle opener too). There’s lots of opportunities for sampling – go in and get a sample, go sit and listen to the guy talk, refill, go see the actual machinery and stuff, get another refill…

Afterwards we went to Kissan for Indian food. Yum! I’ll definitely go again – too bad it’s so far away from me.

If you read the comments last time, you would’ve seen megan’s promise of a BIG present – wanna see? Of course you do!

It’s an Ashford Rigid Heddle Loom! All finished and put together, too – I can’t wait to put it to use. Denny’s going to come teach me to weave and I’ll…fix her email. Heh.

Something else big and made of wood I got for the b-day:

My talented boyfriend made me a skein winder at my request. It’ll be so much faster than a niddy-noddy, and more accurate for measuring than the swift he made me last year. Yay!

Hopefully I’ll be back with some actual knitting content real soon. Stay cool!

  • happy birthday (and belated blogiversary) to me

    It’s my birthday, and I’m 22!

I also missed my second (!) blogiversary a week ago. Two years is a long time! Here’s a stat – I’ve got 541 posts, not including this one. Not a bad rate, overall.

Unfortunately I haven’t any knitting to show you today (I’m busy reknitting a sleeve…oy) so it’s going to have to be some photos of my container veggie garden!

It hasn’t been going super-duper well, but it’s been pretty darn good. Check out this eggplant, of which I’m immensely proud:

The photo was taken a few days ago – today I picked it, and ate it sauteed alongside some cherry tomatoes, basil and parmesan. Mmmm, fresh.

    Tomato photos:

Unfortunately, I’ve been losing a couple of tomatoes…

Blossom end rot and some unknown critter. I’ve already taken some steps to help with the rot – organic fertilizer and eggshells. I really hope the next ones are okay! Luckily I’ve got other plants in other pots.

These peppers are interesting – they’re growing in a tri-cornered shape! Cool. My burgundy beans are also coming along, and I should have some to pick in just a few days.

Keep cool! And if you’re in the neighbourhood, I’m having birthday drinks at Utopia on College on Friday night and you’re invited! email me if you want more deets.
