• The Rhinebeck When It Snowed

Back from Rhinebeck! I had an amazing time, especially after skipping it last year. The weather was perfect (even the flurries on Sunday), the food was plentiful, and it was so lovely to see and catch up with so many friends who live “in the internet”! I had a few designs out amongst the vendor’s booths, too, so it was fun to look around and see my own knitting at Rhinebeck.

Many, many photos ahead – a mix of ones that Dale took with my camera, and a few of mine from my phone. I’m so glad Dale took such nice photos for me to share with you, because otherwise I wouldn’t have any!

Sunday’s Ravelry meetup was out in the yes, snow! The flurries lasted for awhile, and it was pretty darn cold.

I brought Coffee Crisps to give out – they’re labelled Coffin Crisps for Halloween. I think Laura appreciated it!

I definitely missed seeing a few people that I wanted to see. But there’s always next year, or the year after that!

  • suddenly it’s Rhinebeck time!

Geez, I knew it had been awhile since I’d blogged, but I didn’t realize just how long it had been! In September I was consumed with very tight deadline projects, but I got 5 projects out the door (2 knit by sample knitters, thank you so much ladies) and now I hardly know what to do with myself! I also missed submitting to some design calls while I was busy, so I don’t have anything currently lined up. I’m sure that’ll change though.

I do have some new patterns out though! Sometimes it’s difficult for me to tell if I’m actually accomplishing anything, but when designs are released I feel a little better about the amount of work I’ve done this year.

Another sweater pattern with Feel Good Yarn Company, called Claremont! Big thanks to Denny for knitting up this sample. This sweet, shapely V-neck cardigan is worked seamlessly from the bottom up, with integrated bands and seed stitch details. The SilverSpun Sock is a super stretchy, extremely comfortable cotton blend with silver, and Feel Good even has a kit available for 15% off the yarn price.

Fave and queue Claremont on Ravelry.

Motley Mitts and Hat are worked in Louet Gems fingering weight, which is a great workhorse superwash merino with a nice twist and crisp hand. I held two strands of fingering weight together to get the marled effect, and a simple twisted rib panel on the hat and armwarmers are framed with ribbing and stockinette. Plus a nice big pompom! The pattern includes instructions for the armwarmers and hat together, in adult sizes S, M, L.

Queue, fave and purchase Motley on Ravelry.

At home, I’ve been working through some new sweater patterns that I’ve had on hold for awhile. I feel like I’ve been working on these sweaters forever – they were mostly done last winter and spring, and I decided to wait to release the patterns until it was a more sweatery season!

I’ve also been swatching for some brand new projects, because I really do need something new to take to Rhinebeck!

I didn’t go to Rhinebeck last year so I’m SUPER EXTRA EXCITED for this year! Please do say hi if you see me!

  • September Garden

The tomatoes are pretty much done, but I planted some more cucumbers and beans back at the beginning of August, and they’re actually doing really well! Beans are so easy and satisfying to grow.

I’m hoping this more sheltered space (close to the door) will make the cucumber less enticing to the squirrels – this variety is a ‘patio’ cucumber, which has smaller vines but is supposed to produce ‘masses of fruits’!

Some eggplant is finally coming in – I’ve always found eggplant takes the ENTIRE summer to grow, and this year is no exception. We’ll probably only get a few.

Some lettuce mix is going a bit crazy. I’m terrible about thinning, but the jumble is just fine for harvesting a few handfuls of baby leaves at a time.

Over Labour Day weekend we headed up to Muskoka for a family wedding. The weather was sunny and hot, and the wedding itself was a lovely party! Unfortunately we both suffered from a severe case of cam-nesia and neglected to get any photos while all dressed up.

I had a lot of good knitting time in the car on this trip, but I’m still buried under mountains of deadline knitting! Looking ahead, the calendar is filling up fast and there’s only few short months before *you-know-what*.

What are you working on this weekend?
