I&#8217;m not knitting Mary Jane&#8217;s (lovely) Stopover, but instead one of my own design. It&#8217;s a top-down raglan wrap cardigan, worked in garter stitch &#8211; the grown-up version of my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/mermaid-cardigan-2\">Mermaid Cardigan<\/a>! The largest size set can be made with just 1 skein!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laurachau.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/mb-polemonium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail aligncenter wp-image-4994\" src=\"http:\/\/www.laurachau.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/mb-polemonium.jpg\" alt=\"mb-polemonium\" width=\"640\" height=\"966\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One last thing: cake! I made this hummingbird cake (banana, pineapple, and pecans) for my grandma&#8217;s 86th birthday, which we celebrated yesterday. I really wanted it to look nice for her, so I piped roses on top &#8211; it came out great. I didn&#8217;t have quite enough frosting to do roses on the sides as well, so I just smoothed it out and added some chopped pecans around the bottom edge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laurachau.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/hummingbird-cake-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail aligncenter wp-image-4995 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.laurachau.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/hummingbird-cake-1.jpg\" alt=\"hummingbird-cake-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laurachau.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/hummingbird-cake-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail aligncenter wp-image-4996 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.laurachau.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/hummingbird-cake-2.jpg\" alt=\"hummingbird-cake-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.joyofbaking.com\/HummingbirdCake.html\">I used this recipe from Joy of Baking<\/a>, but changed up the frosting a bit &#8211; I used equal parts butter and cream cheese, and a good amount of heavy cream (along with powdered sugar and vanilla).
