  • oh, hello.

Whoops, I didn’t mean to let so many days by! I’ve been buried under the Big Paper (the survey one – it’s coming along) and haven’t really had much progress to show.

A few more woven squares from the other day –

The yellow one is leftover Knitpicks Merino Style for the warp and handspun merino for the weft. And the one on the left/bottom is some handspun. I’m using slightly thicker yarns for the squares now, about sport or DK weight, and I really like the density. As for what to do with them…I’m thinking some kinda crazy quilt at some point. We’ll see.

I also finally re-did the sleeve caps on the Cable/Rib cardi, and I sewed them in – they still could’ve been a bit shorter, but it’ll do. I still have one sleeve seam to do, then the collar and toggles – I’m not really feeling the love at the moment, but I think those finishing touches will really help.

Oh, and while I remember – my custom stamp is from rstamp.net. It was a bit pricey (mainly the shipping…but I know how expensive shipping is in Canada!) but I got exactly what I wanted so I think it was worth it.

And another thing, while I’m remembering random things – the Socks that Rock isn’t in yet; the skein I got was a gift from Tina through Steph, through megan. Hold tight, though – it left a week ago yesterday (Friday) so it should be here soon!

The body of the cable/rib cardi looks super!

    Problem: the sleeves. They are
    a) too big to fit into the armhole and
    b) too big for me.

Solution: rip back a couple of the increases, go straight, then figure out a new sleeve cap.

Problem: the sleeve has alreading been washed and blocked. The reknit stitches look like CRAAAAAAAAP.

    Possible solutions:
    a) rip back the whole sleeve, wash the yarn, and reknit it.
    b) keep going and hope it works out.
    c) wait until April 22, the day of the DKC Knitter’s Frolic, get more yarn from Shelridge Farm, reknit sleeves and hope it’s still cool enough out to wear the cabled wool sweater.
    d) ????

I finished the flower basket shawl and cast off tonight; it’s pretty little but I’m positive I’ll be able to get a useable size when it’s blocked.

I guesstimated how many repeats I could do with the yarn I had (by guesstimated I mean I stopped when I was bored!). I was lucky – this is what I had left after casting off.

I really couldn’t have done another repeat! Well, okay, maybe I could have, but it would have been really, really close.

Finally, here’s a finished Dreamcatcher sleeve to show you. I’m a couple of inches into the other one.

I still haven’t touched the finishing on the cable/rib cardigan – the fronts and back are sort of blocking now (spritzed rather than full immersion). I’ll block the whole thing again once it’s done – hopefully this weekend.
