  • and then there were two

    I just experienced a two-day server outage, or I would’ve posted sooner!

    olive boy-socks

Feels good to get some things off the needles, I must say. These are just basic socks, 68 sts on Knitpicks US 0 (magic loop) and the yarn is Lorna’s Laces in “Cedar”. I still have another skein (I had three for some reason) so I can’t quite decide if I want to return it or make a matching pair of socks for me. These are for the boyfriend. Or alternatively, I suppose I could just make a second pair in the same colour for him.

These sock blockers really work nicely for displaying the socks! I got mine at the Knitter’s Frolic this spring from PickUpSticks, but hadn’t used them before the other day.

I’ve been adding projects to Ravelry, slowly, but it’s taking a long time! I’m done my 2007 and 2006 projects (for the most part, I think, there might be a few missing in there somewhere) and now I’m onto the 2004-2005 photoset, which contains a whopping 99 photos! Don’t worry if you haven’t gotten your invite yet – it’s seriously better, this growing slowly. It would just implode if everyone joined at once! I’ve been on since May, when Jess emailed and asked if I would check out this site she was working on. It was a neat idea then, and now it’s grown into a tremendous effort. It’s very cool.

Currently knitting Titbits and secret presents, which are almost done. I’m itching to start new projects, but still trying to be good and finish stuff!

    ribbing

I re-started the Sienna Cardigan from Interweave a few weeks ago, thinking “hey! this’ll be fast and easy! I can use up that yarn!”. I’m using Knitpicks Main Line, that has been in the stash for awhile – it’s actually working up quite nicely, and the bigger gauge (4 sts/in) works well for it, since it’s quite thick.

I knit up one ball – the ribbing and a few rows of stockinette, and then it just sat. And sat. Taking up space on my desk. I really want to knit it, but there are other things to knit first! I wanted it for an early-fall sweater, since it is cotton, but I just don’t know if I’ll get to it anytime soon. Maybe when I finish that skirt? But then it’s time for a Rhinebeck sweater!

I’ve been musing on Rhinebeck and a Rhinebeck sweater – I definitely want to go, and I’m sure I’ll swing some way of it. So then there’s the sweater. I’d do Road to Golden (from Knitscene) but I’m sure there’ll be other people there wearing it. So I’m thinking my own design, a lace cardigan out of Socks that Rock mediumweight.

And I’m not stopping at the sweater – I really want to make a Rhinebeck skirt, too! More on that later.

Hey, check out my baby watermelon!

  • FP (finished pattern): Clara Tank

Here’s a little something I’ve been working up in lettuce knit’s own line of hand-dyed yarns – dyed by me! This one uses a light cotton tape that comes in huge skeins.

    Clara Tank

    Clara Tank
This easy and fast-knitting tank is knit entirely in the round with no seams whatsoever! A fun lace edging lends impact to the simple and flattering shape, and frames the neck along front and back edges.

It was a really fun knit, fast, and very satisfying. The upper body (ie. straps) is not really shaped, instead the straps are knit almost straight up to the shoulder, which gives a v-neck and a slight cap sleeve.
