  • sooo full

I think I ate too much dinner. Anyway, I’ve got a paper to write but I do have progress –

The sleeves of the Corset Pullover are done!

I’ll do the lace edging and figure out how to kitchener live stitches to bound off ones tomorrow at SnB. Also, the red socks are nearing completion – I’m alternating between the socks (I have to keep switching the needles, which is a pain) so I can use up all the yarn. I’m on the ribbing now.

I got my box of yarn from Elann!

The Fortissima sock yarn is soooo soft. I want to order more to make tank tops or fine gauge sweaters or something – but I think the buy, buy, buy temptation on that has passed somewhat – that’s a good thing. I think I’ll start the jacket with the Pisco tomorrow at SnB as well – I hope it’ll be a fast knit at 15 sts/4 in.

Thanks for all the compliments on the cardi! I’m still feeling the finishing bug, so I’m hoping to sew on those buttons tonight and maybe even baste in the zipper on the Lotech. Well, at least pin it in.

Two more things. 1) My friend Erin made a cardi! See her pics here. 2) I made a new pattern page for the cardi pattern, complete with new pictures. Check it out here.

  • it’s all in the finishing

    Lots to blog about today!

The silk garden cardi is done! It’s soft and beautiful, and I think it’ll be great to wear over t-shirts or tanks when it gets a little warmer.

It’s a little big though – just when it’s open. So I figure I’ll add buttons. I didn’t knit in buttonholes, but the stitches are loose enough that I think I can just “make” them. So which ones?

Here’s a couple detail shots – yos for the increases, and the whole thing was fairly loosely knit.

What would a completed sweater be without the Rachael?

    Details – Silk Garden Cardi
    Pattern: top-down cardi
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden, colour 211, 6 skeins
    Needles: US 9 Denises
    Started: March 24, 2005
Finished: April 4, 2005 (not counting the buttons)

    One more thing, somewhat unrelatedly.
(I’m in the mood for finishing – I think I could burn through sewing on buttons, putting in zippers, waistband and hook-and-eye tape on almost-but-not-quite-finished-objects, but I’ve got a ton of schoolwork to do! Hopefully that motivation will still be there on the weekend…)

I’m going to put three of these

on my Tartan Jacket. What do I use for the loops? Crochet chains? Faux suede laces (that I’d have to buy)? Something else?

  • project ramblings

Well, I don’t have any photos today because my sister is using the camera for a project, but I do have progress to report – the Silk Garden cardi is done and currently taking a bath, and the second red sock is up past the heel turn. Pictures tomorrow. So naturally, I’m thinking about new projects.

    Here’s the (rather long) queue:
    1) Phildar jacket (still haven’t received the yarn yet)
    2) Rebecca Apricot Jacket, in red Cotton-Ease
    3) a raglan cardigan that I’ve got an idea for…in black Cotton-Ease
    4) Gibson Girl pullover
    5) socks – cotton ones (Making Waves, Merino Lace Socks, Retro Rib, all from IK)
    6) T-shirt in Elann Esprit (getting more into the hotter months here)
    7) top in Schachenmayer Aurora
    8) Chickamis

I’ve also decided to make “Sideways Spencer” (sooner rather than later) by Annie Modesitt, from the Fall 2004 IK – damn, that was a good issue!

I’ll use some modifications a la Bonne Marie, and I’m going to do it in Cotton Fleece, in an olive colour that doesn’t seem to be listed on their website. Here’s the thing – I’ve had the 6 remaining skeins at the store put aside for me, but I’m worried that it won’t be enough. The pattern calls for the equivalent of 5 skeins, and I’ll be adding quite a bit of length. I might hold off until we get a new order of Cotton Fleece, and that way I’ll be sure to have enough.
