  • so Aven has something to read today

I’ve had a rather productive week! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday involved schoolwork (ugh). Wednesday night as stitch n bitch I got up to the second toe on the grey socks, but I’m not going to actually do the toe until I know that the other one is comfortable.

    Other things I’ve accomplished today:
    – washed and dried the monk’s satchel pieces (and boy, did they ever shrink up!)
    – washed the secret project; currently drying
    – spun up the second bobbin of merino/silk (I put the wheel in the family room and watched Star Trek: TNG)
    – I’m allllllmost done the tivoli tee, just another few inches straight knitting, and I think it’s going to fit
    – vaccumed

Ahhh. The things one can get done while spending the day at home. I’ve got school tonight, though. I’m hoping that once July hits and I’ve only got 1 class (5 hours/week), I’ll be able to get tons of things done on my days off!

  • motorin’

Progress on the grey sock…less than 3″ till the toe! It goes quickly when I work on it (story of my knitting life…).

In spinning, I did up some shiny merino/silk. I’m hoping that when this is plied with another equal bobbin, it’ll fill the third bobbin and won’t go over. How do people spin up full bobbins of singles to be plied? Doesn’t that mean your plied skeins need to be all broken up? Or does everyone have a jumbo plying bobbin?

And…..all the pieces of the Monk’s Satchel are done!

    See anything weird?

By the knot at the side of the strap/gusset?

Yeah, I screwed up the seed stitch. When I resized the photo, I actually said out loud “oh you are fucking kidding me”. But, it shall be on the bottom of the bag so I don’t really care. And if it bugs me enough, I’ll just duplicate stitch on the purl bumps.

Just a couple of pieces of i-cord and the pieces meet my washing machine, and then a crochet hook.

  • hey,

It is most certainly sweltering (I was dying working at the store on Friday and Sunday morning) but in my house I’ve got the nice AC to keep me cool and knittin’! Not to rub it in the faces of those who don’t, of course.

I finished a little ankle sock, out of Elann Esprit, as the demo sock for the toe-up class that I taught. But I don’t think it will ever have a mate – the gauge is too loosey-goosey, because I only had 3.75 mm dpns (since I do most of my socks magic loop, I didn’t want to confuse the students…). It’s cute though. There shall be more.

And I just got my Pakucho cotton form Elann! I got 12 of natural and 14 of forest.

The big news – I have finally, finally finished the gusset/strap for the monk’s satchel. Working on the pockets now – 8″ should be a breeze after 80! Then there’s the icord, and a swatch for sewing up with, and everything will go in the washer and dryer to be shrunk up. At this point I don’t even know if I want it that much, but oh well.
