  • treeline striped cardigan

Catch up time! I’m so busy I can hardly catch my breath…tomorrow, I am staying home the entire. day. Of course, I have piles of work to do, but I can’t wait.

    treeline stripe

I started this one…I guess it would two weeks ago, now – the Friday I left for Rhinebeck, I cast on while waiting for my train at Union. This is what I had by the end of the weekend – nearly the entire lower body done.

It’s based on the treeline striped cardigan from the purl bee, but the numbers are all my own doing. And shaping, lots of shaping.

Yarn is Shelridge Farm W4, in chocolate brown (overexposed, unretouched photo), kidsilk haze in Villain, and the blue yarn from this sad sweater. Okay, I know everyone said to make it a vest, but it certainly wasn’t going to fit, plus…not really into vests. I mean, my arms kind of get colder faster.

Anyway, I haven’t actually ripped the cabled part – the blue yarn I’m using is from the sleeves, which were already ripped. I love, love, love how this is working up, and it’s been fairly quick too.

    treeline stripe sleeve

One sleeve down, as well. It’s actually kind of amazing how much slower the knitting goes when you have to wrangle two yarns! I mean, it’s not like stranded colourwork where you’re wrangling, but magically it’s faster because it’s pretty. This way is pretty, but sooooo slow. Still, I’m hoping to have this one to wear soonish – I’ve been wearing the same couple sweaters over and over the last little while.

In the meantime – I worked out most of the numbers for the wrappy number in the last post, since so many of you sounded so eager for the pattern! If I can get some decent photos, the whole shebang should be ready for sale next week.

That is, if I have any time to work on it!

  • rhinebeck sweaters?

Yes, there shall perhaps be two!

    k&s neckdown wrap

Not that exciting as far as pattern goes, but the yarn sure is pretty! This one’s the Knitting Pure and Simple Neckdown Wrap, in Dream in Color (“dusky aurora”). I think I started this one about two weeks ago, and have mostly been working on it while in the store. I’m actually farther along now – the body is done, one sleeve is done, and the other sleeve is halfway there. So that leaves half a sleeve, the neckband, and ties to go.

Then there’s the Noro Silk Garden wrappy sweater (yes, I *am* into wrap sweaters this year!)…

    noro wrap sweater

Just half a sleeve and a good blocking to go. Go go go!

  • wip/rip: twofer

How about a two for one deal today, hm? Speed things along a little before I get back onto current (not sitting around) projects…

    wip/rip: cabled cardigan

A cabled cardigan from Vogue – I can’t really remember what issue, maybe holiday 2005? Yarn is Shelridge Farm W4. The problem with this sweater was, I knit the body (sans pockets, which was fine) and the collar (fine) and then the sleeves, but the sleeves grew so much upon blocking that they were both ridiculously long and too big for the armhole.

So I ripped the sleeves, and I think I knit one again, but it still didn’t fit. And so the sweater sat. I was planning on doing top-down set-in sleeves, but never really got around to it. It’s definitely in the ripping pile – I tried on the body, and it’s too short and a tad too small as well. But I’m just hesitant to take out all those fabulous cables!

    single sock-dom

Of course, there’s always the single sock family. On the left is a recently completed one, the sock in sweetgeorgia sock yarn (colourway: fondant). In the middle is an anklet from last summer in Sock Candy – I “rescued” a single skein of this colour from the store and, well, I don’t know what’s going to happen with that. On the right is 1.5 socks out of handspun merino. Not sure when that’s going to happen, either…

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving weekend. I made Butternut and Creamed Spinach Gratin, a brown and wild rice pilaf with chickpeas, and apple upside-down cake for dessert. Mmmm!
