  • ever have one of those days..

..where things just won’t go your way? Wreck your dinner, can’t focus on studying…

oh, and the knitting doesn’t agree with you either? Yeah, those days.

    The Evidence: Item 1.

Do you see what I see? The fronts (to the markers) have a different number of stitches from each other. And this was at the end of one very. long. yoke. Just to make sure (since we all know that the camera sees all) I took a picture of the whole thing – after I bound off the neck. I’ll figure out the collar later.

    Looks ok…I think.

    Item 2.

My beloved Cotton-ease, in Cherry Red. I swatched for the Rebecca “Apricot Cardigan”, and did get gauge on 5.5 mm needles. BUT, I have determined that the colour is just too damn bright for me. So does anyone want this Cotton-ease? I’ve got 6 balls less that little swatch – $3 each, what do you say?

Luckily, after midnight things started looking up. I worked a bit on Cozy – I was feeling frustrated and downright depressed, and this helped. Mmm, wool and silk…I’m still not yet a third of the way done.

I started spinning up the wool I received yesterday. I wasn’t too keen on the colours in the roving, but this is GORGEOUS.

Now I’m all excited about doing my own dyeing – I love the vibrant colours of this roving, and I know I won’t really get that with Koolaid, but I’m not feeling into spending the money and effort on acid dyes. Plus, once I’m done with the POUND of white corridale I’ve got to dye, I can also buy dyed roving to spin.

P.S. I kind of just forgot to write the “yarn” part of “piles of projects and yarn” – I was thinking about how much Cotton-ease I’ve got coming my way, and got kind of woozy. 8 balls of Licorice, 6 of Blueberry, 5 of Banana Cream, and at least 8 of Strawberry cream. So, you know, I really need to vacate the space taken up by that Cherry Red.

  • piles of projects and yarn

So I went to grab a ball of the All Season’s Cotton I bought at the Frolic, to swatch for a tank top. I open my Denise case, and hm – no appropriately sized needles. I wonder why?

From left: Soleil, on US 5; wavy skirt on US 6; licorice cardi on US 7; cozy on US 8, phildar jacket (the collar) on US 9. No wonder I have no needles! I suppose that’s a sign that I should finish up some projects, hm? I’m working on finishing up the Phildar Jacket – I’ve got just a bit of the collar to go, then finishing. I already sewed up the shoulders and set in the sleeves, and wove in a bunch of ends. Still to do – sew down the front facings, neaten up vertical buttonholes and weave in those ends, sew on the collar, seam up the sleeves and sides (that’s the easy one) and find and sew on buttons. So much finishing…

I received some fiber in the mail (I *heart* mail), that I’d ordered off eBay. This stuff is pretty dang bright! So much fiber to spin, so little time and patience for spindle spinning. Hey Denny? Maybe I could come over one day and use your wheel for a few hours?

One last thing. What the hell is this?

HAIL. ON THE SECOND OF MAY.

  • spring cleaning

Ah, the first real content post in my new digs! Exciting. Fresh new-blog-smell and everything!

First up, some spinning. I made my first Andean bracelet –

and made some 2-ply, around fingering weight.

Seemed like so much work though, and I only got this! Maybe this is why I want a wheel – because I’m impatient.

Inspired by Lauren over at Almost Felted, I went through my knitted stuffs for things to send to the Dulaan project. I came up with a few.

In the left bag are a miniponcho thing with a turtleneck, an A Capella, a scarf and hat. In the right bag are Topsecret and another hat. I’ll probably still try to get a few more hats out.

So naturally going through my stuff allowed me to reorganize – here’s a shot of my laundry basket (clean laundry only!) – turned WIP basket.

I also found some things to frog.

In the left bag are Syncopated Ribs (must rescue the Cotton-ease!), my criss-cross tank (from last spring’s Vogue – way too big), and a tank top called Jenna. In the right bag are the pieces from a sweater I started in Elann’s Highland Chunky – I think I’m going to restart the Urban Aran, but maybe not till the fall.

Oh, and one more thing – the cardi, she has sleevage…

    I name her “Licorice cardigan”.

A shoutout to those who have managed to find me Strawberry Cream Cotton-ease! I should have enough for, well, probably a couple of projects! Mwah!

P.S. I’m working on the RSS feed. I have no idea how it works. Anyway have any pointers?
