I kool-aid dyed the corriedale I spun up a while back…I used Strawberry and Cherry Kool-aid and Cherry no-name stuff.
The dye bath never exhausted, and I was too impatient to let it cool in the hot water – so I got a coral-y, watermelon-y pink. It’s kinda cool, but not what I was going for. Plus, I think my microwave is rather…weak.
Anyway, as to the falling off the wagon, I bought a whack of Cushing dyes and 2 pounds of corriedale from Winderwood farm on eBay (still not buying yarn, but I’ve got to have something to spin, dammit!). Now, if anyone sees a crockpot around town for cheap, pick it up for me!

Very cool! I need to try this dye your own yarn idea…spinning is way beyond me.
That’s a great colour … too bad it’s not exactly what you wanted. People who spin and dye their own yarn amaze me. I couldn’t do it. I would never have the patience.
